Details / requirements:

The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified Nepali Nationals for the following positions based in Chautara, Sindhupalchowk.

Vacancy Notice No: VN#NP/115/15

Position Title: Paramedic - 1 position

Classification: SAI, 6 months with possibility of extension, ungraded (equivalent to Grade – 3)

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist patients and caregiver/s in safe transfer to and from the facility, including but not limited to transfers to the district hospital, tertiary facilities in Kathmandu and back to the community
  • Visit patients, communities and health facilities with the social worker to identify rehabilitation needs and coordinate transfer of patients to the hospital/facility, including travel to VDC’S when required
  • In coordination with the social worker, conduct interviews with patients and caregiver/s to identify discharge needs, coordinate travel plans and help prepare patients in pipeline for discharge (including, but not limited to, preferred communities of return, ensuring family members are aware, ensuring that patients have plans fr community based care/follow up, availability of non-food-items upon discharge etc)
  • Ensure effective diffusion of information regarding services offered by the facility as well as by other relevant service providers  
  • Follow up the network of focal points within the areas of intervention and get information about the general situation of most vulnerable beneficiaries and their access to services
  • Assist in information dissemination in relation to health and rehabilitation assistance as necessary
  • Work with Public Health Focal Point for health promotional and disease prevention activities in the community
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and caregivers at all times
  • Compile patient files and enter data into the facility database on a weekly basis
  • Work collaboratively with the team through effective leadership and motivational skills
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor/s

Required Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • College graduate preferably with paramedical training/CMA
  • Previous experience in community outreach, rehabilitation care and health promotion activities will be an advantage Demonstrated ability in dealing with people of various backgrounds, ages, etc; respect for diversity
  • Excellent communication skills (working knowledge of English required)
