Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO), eye care service delivery centre is currently looking for quality candidates to apply for the following position:
OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT
ROLE SUMMARY: Successful applicants will be responsible for working in Community Eye Centers (CEC) in hilly districts of Nepal to ensure quality patient care, optimal customer service, and the promotion of community eye health.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform practical procedures involved in examination, investigation, and treatment of common eye diseases and perform minor extra-ocular surgeries as required.
Impart primary eye health education on health promotion and prevention of preventable eye diseases.
Perform preliminary screening examinations of the ophthalmic patients.
Assist senior health personnel in surgery by preparing patients for surgery and carrying out postoperative management of patients.
Ensure that all areas and equipments are well maintained and cleaned to the standard at the beginning and at the end of the workday.
Perform refraction and prescribe and dispense spectacles and medication to patients.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
ESSENTIAL:
Proficiency Certificate Level in Health Sciences - Ophthalmology or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Ability and willingness to work in rural community eye centres.
Between 21- 35 years of age for men and 21 – 40 years of age for women
Nepali Citizen
DESIRABLE:
Previous experience working within a health sector preferably in eye health services.
