Office Assistant (Communication and Donor Compliance)

This role includes the preparation of communication products of AWO International, translation as well as assistance in reporting, concept note and proposal drafting in line with compliance requirements of donor-funded projects in Nepal and the region of South Asia.

AWO is an over 100 years old German welfare organization and has been active in development cooperation and humanitarian action for more than 50 years. AWO International works with local and regional partner organizations and follows a participatory approach.

Your responsibilities:

  • Translation (English-German) of communication material, reports, concepts notes, proposals and other documents
  • Supports the Head Representative in ensuring compliance requirements of key products for AWO Int. and donors (reporting, concept note and proposal drafting)
  • Drafts, edit and / or supports the production of English Communication products (Lessons Learnt documents, presentations, IEC-Materials, logo placing, etc.)
  • Organises and uploads communication documents and photographs to a cloud and coordinates with the communication focal person at the Berlin Office
  • Coordinates with the partners to receive data, information, write-up material and photographs in coordination with the project team and participates in relevant workshop/events organized by the Nepal office
  • Supports the development of / produces articles (German, English) and social media write ups incl. photographic material to portray the programmatic work (development and humanitarian) of AWO Int. in South Asia
  • Provides project wise write-ups for the update of the AWO Int. South Asia website for development and humanitarian interventions in the region of South Asia
  • Prepares communication material about project work in the field 

We expect from you:

  • A postgraduate degree in communications and/or international relations
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant professional experience in similar I/NGO assignments
  • Professional experience in the regional context of South Asia in similar working areas and in coordinating with local partner organizations
  • In-depth understanding of the communication requirements of an I/NGO in the development cooperation and humanitarian aid context
  • Sound knowledge of compliance requirements of German institutional and private donors
  • Sound experience in translating and editing reports, proposals and any other key products of donor funded projects in the context of development cooperation and humanitarian aid
  • Experience in drafting publications, social media articles and human-interest stories
  • Skills and knowledge to produce and edit high-quality photographic material
  • Excellent drafting, writing and editing skills in English and German (native languages skills desired or level C2), ideally good Nepali language skills
  • Adherence to the values and principles of AWO International
