Job Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will assist reporting, monitoring, and evaluation work with the overall responsibility of providing strategic direction and technical backstopping to the project teams who are responsible for reporting monitoring progress in line with monitoring plan and target, and achieving the goal and expected outcomes of the iDE Nepal projects. The purpose of the job is to ensure efficient and effective management of the M&E aspects of the project at the central level in line with the project policies and procedures. S/he will work closely with the multi-disciplinary project team at the central, regional and district level to achieve the project results in time at a high standard. More specifically s/he will be responsible for the following tasks:

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare reports and keep databases as per standards formats and as per need.
  • Facilitate and support the district/field team for the reporting of progress on activities as planned in the Detail Implementation Plan (DIP) in close coordination with other concerned project staff.
  • Develop and update monitoring tools based on the reporting needs provided by the central M&E team.
  • Facilitate to develop the capacity of project staff on data collection and reporting.
  • Technical backstopping to project staff on effective and timely reporting of project activities.
  • Follow the M&E reporting and documentation requirements and donor guidelines.
  • Provide feedback to the district team for quality reports and achieve project targets in time.
  • Support to develop action plans and strategies.
  • Closely work with all concerned officials and concerned personnel to consolidate reports.
  • Participate in M&E-related activities and other relevant activities at different levels.
  • Supervise and guide the field staff, follow up and monitor the field level project activities frequently so that reporting would reflect reality.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annually as per need of the M&E reporting system.
  • Ensure that the reporting made by the staff accurately meets the reporting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Oversee and make sure that the information required for M&E and project implementation are properly collected, processed and documented.
  • Provide support and maintenance to existing MIS systems and maintain documentation to allow smooth operation and easy system maintenance.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience in delivery of field-level extension activities, organizing training and delivery, and training received in agriculture-related subjects.
  • Good spoken and written skills in both English and Nepali.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of institutions.
  • Proficiency to use standard software at an advanced level; knowledge of common ICTs and their use in agricultural extension systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports, success stories, and promotional materials.
  • Knowledge of USAID programs and procedures, with emphasis on monitoring and evaluation procedures.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional, and multicultural environment.
  • Candidates must have a valid motorbike license.

Benefits

iDE Nepal offers a monthly basic salary of NPR 50, 000 with complete benefits such as Provident Fund, Gratuity, Festival Allowance, group medical, and group personal accidental insurance with leave facility as per iDE Nepal policy.
