LIFE Nepal is a non-profit making organization (NGO) registered at the District Administration Office, Dhanusha in 2012. It works in the areas of education, health, social protection, and livelihood of Nepali citizens (especially Girls, Dalit, Muslim, women, youth, and people with disability) for their dignified life.

LIFE Nepal with the partnership of CBM Global Disability Inclusionis implementing “Inclusive Climate Resilient Community Development in Nepal (IRCDN)” in Janakpurdham Sub metropolitan, Mithila Bihari municipality and Aaurahi Rural municipality Dhanusha District in collaboration with Disabled Society Janakpur (DSJ). LIFE Nepal is seeking suitable and qualified Nepalese citizens for the following positions:

Qualification and Experiences

1. Livelihood/DRR Officer - 1 (full time based in Janakpur) with extensive field engagement

  • Lead to develop the livelihood framework and implement effective implementation.
  • Lead to conduct the need assessment of persons with disabilities for livelihood opportunities and support in developing business plan 
  • Assist in having proper marketing channels for economic development of the beneficiaries.
  • Carry out the need assessment of person with disabilities, analyze the information and identify the suitable livelihood efforts/strategies  
  • Develop quality annual monitoring plan and system for livelihoods in coordination with project team.
  • Collect field data and information gather in accordance with M&E tools, with events and action plans and photographs as references. In addition, develop analytical reports and submit them on time to the authority and donor agencies.
  • Building strong coordination and linkage with the District Disaster Relief Committee (DDRC), Local Disaster Management Committees (LDMCs) and organizations who work in climate change adaptions for smooth implementation of project activities in Palika and community levels 
  • Prepare situation report and humanitarian support distribution plan as and when needed.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of DiDRR and Disability inclusive climate change adaptation activities.
  • Lead to develop and conduct the survey of climate change impact to person with disability 
  • Perform other work-related duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the project team and assigned by the line manager
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture with two years of previous experiences in related field or bachelor’s degree in social science with four years of previous experiences in related field
  • Target oriented, proactive, and flexible with excellent communication skills in Nepali and Maithili Language  
  • Work in close coordination with team members.
  • Ability and willingness to work in team and to work under pressure and in remote/difficult circumstances.
  • Experienced and willing to work with people with disabilities 
  • Experience in designing and implementing climate adaptive livelihood.

2. Agriculture Technician - 1 (full time- based in project location)

  • Work closely with the Livelihood and disability inclusion officer to develop beneficiary profile and conduct beneficiary mapping 
  • Provide door-to-door technical support to beneficiaries and monitor, track and report the agricultural livelihood status regularly.
  • Provide training and coaching to the project beneficiaries on vegetable farming, animal rearing and animal health related issues as part of agricultural livelihood.
  • Ensure the need and provide agricultural inputs (seeds, irrigation materials, plastic sheets, poultry, goat) in the community, identifying/the right beneficiaries,
  • conduct training/orientation to the self-help groups on agricultural livelihood 
  • Facilitate SHGs in saving and credit practices and support in   savings and credit activities.
  • Provide orientation sessions, motivate, and encourage participants for resilient livelihood
  • Responsible for field level agriculture, livestock, and market linkage activities to implement at field level of the project.
  • Support in developing detail implementation plan (DIP) of Agricultural livelihood 
  • Attend focused group discussions, SHG meetings and other related Community level programs to identify constraints to success of agricultural livelihoods
  • Support beneficiaries in tracking their business plan, income and efforts 
  • Build strong coordination with municipal agricultural and relevant departments and align focus with their priorities for joint efforts on agricultural livelihood 
  • Attend and contribute to Palika and Ward level meetings related with program.
  • Perform other work-related duties and responsibilities as required for the project and assigned by the line manager
  • TSLC in Agriculture run under CTEVT with two years of previous experiences in related field

Other competencies:

  • Experience in community mobilization activities will be an added advantage.
  • Good communication skills in both English and Nepali. Local Language is most.
  • Ability and willingness to work in team and to work under pressure and in remote/difficult circumstances.
