Sahayata Samajik Sanstha (SSS), a non governmental organization registered under the district administration office Nuwakot, and affiliated to Social Welfare Council (SWC), Nepal has been working in various sectors of Nuwakot and Rasuwa District since 2005. Sahayata Samajik Sanstha (SSS) was established with a vision of perfect society in which poor and under privileged group people fulfill their basic needs and live in dignity. Since the establishments we have been working in various developmental and informational sectors, namely in livelihood, shelter, water supply, sanitation and hygiene, women's trafficking, and HIV and aids in the collaboration with different national and international agencies. After the devastating Earthquake of 2072 BS, SSS in partnership with UNDP, OXFAM, Practical Action and ICIMOD is implementing the Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Programs in Nuwakot.

SSS in partnership with Oxfam is implementing the Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Project in different VDCs of Nuwakot.

 

SSS is seeking to fill the following positions inviting applications from interested and highly motivated candidates.

 

JOB TITLE:   Livelihood Assistant (Cooperative & Entrepreneur) -1, Field Base in programme rural municipality.

DIVISION / DEPARTMENT / LOCATION: Programme (technical) under  Nepal Earthquake Recovery and Rehabilitation programme partnership with Oxfam International in Nepal.

SALARY:  According to the organization's salary scale.

JOB PURPOSE: Support the implementation of Oxfam Food Security and Early Livelihoods Recovery, including long term rehabilitation activities.

REPORTING LINES:

Post holder reports to:  Livelihood Officer and Livelihood Infrastructure Officer (Engineer as per required)

Managing Staff: N/A

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Responsible for Selection, verification of cooperatives and entrepreneur groups (registered either in CSID or Cooperative Division office) and strengthening the capacity of cooperatives and groups based enterprise.

·        Lead on business plan preparation of cooperatives and small medium and micro enterprises (SMME)

·        Take Technical lead on selection, facilitation, distribution and monitoring of equipments and grant support as per the cooperatives and groups demand

·        Regular monitoring and field level verification of human resource support to cooperatives

·        Coordination with technical institutes registered in CTEVT and facilitates to organise vocational training jointly.

·        Identification of alternative source of livelihood and assist for conduction of vocational and skill development trainings.

·       Beneficiary selection, verification and approval from local authority in coordination with social mobilizes

·       Responsible for implementation of all EFSVL Programme interventions at field level with maintain quality on time.

·       Establish a good relationship with other thematic members of the different team to integrate the issues related to EFSVL and work closely with other thematic member for integration with other component like Wash, gender and protection, shelter and DRR.

·       Establish and maintain good coordination with local authorities like rural municipality/ municipality, DCC as well as line agencies like DADO, DLSO, CSID, Cooperative Division Office and other concerned agencies for advocacy on the EFSVL programme related issues.

·        Organize coordination meeting with cooperatives, producer group meeting, entrepreneur’s meeting at regular interval

·        Regular visit to cooperatives, producer groups and group enterprises for tracking their progress, identify issues and discuss among team for way out.

·        Perform post distribution monitoring activities in coordination with MEAL team

·        Support Livelihood Officer, Livelihood Infrastructure Officer (Engineer) and Program Coordinator in project planning and  implementation  as requirements

·        Prepare monthly field plan, monthly reporting to the line manager.

·        Collect , develop and share success stories to EFSVL officer on regular basis

·        Make arrangement for field visit and verification by Oxfam, Donor, district stakeholders and management.

·       Support to line manager for preparing regular programme reports through updating and tracking the regular reports (both narrative and financial).

·       Manage field issues at field level in coordination and guidance of line manager.

·       Any other task delegated by Line Manager.

 

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

Essential:

·       +2 Passed (preferably Bachelor)  in social science/ agriculture /enterprise development with minimal 2  years of experience in enterprise promotion

·       Prior experience of working in cooperative, agricultural and livestock producer groups and enterprise promotions

·       Prior working experience in business plan development of cooperatives and SMMEs and facilitation on vocational training course provided by CTEVT.

·       Experience of working in livelihood (Agro, Cooperative and entrepreneur) related project

·       Experience and commitment to promote equity, gender and diversity

·       Good social mobilization, motivation and community sensitization skills

·       Knowledge in on farm and off farm enterprise development

·       Strong planning, analytical and strategic thinking skills

·       Good communication, reporting and documentation skills

·       Self management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities

·       Ability to work independently and pressure schedule as required.

·       Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

·        

Desirable:

§  Previous working experience with non-governmental organizations.

§  Experience in emergency and early recovery programmers.

§  Mature and professional attitude and approach.
