Background

The Story Kitchen (TSK) is a not-for-profit distributing company registered in September 2012 under the Companies Act, 2006 Nepal. We envision a society, where every woman's voice is heard, her existence is accepted, her work is accounted, and her contribution is valued. Our mission is to create a safe space for her stories and amplify the experiences of women in our history.  We are driven by the passionate belief that sharing and listening to the stories of women can build the movement and it helps to ignite social change. In short, TSK is a space to amplify Herstory.

In the last 5 years, TSK has been working with women victims and survivors of Nepal’s 10-years long armed conflict utilizing storytelling as a truth-telling approach. Building on the previous success, TSK is expanding its work through various projects with funding from diversified donors. 

If you are willing to be part of this challenging and exciting work, TSK invites you to apply for the position of Knowledge Management, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer (KMMELO). Below are the Terms of Reference for this position:

A) Major Responsibilities

In close coordination with and strategic guidance from the Program Coordinator, the Knowledge Management, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer (KMMELO) will lead the monitoring and evaluation of project and set up project information and knowledge management system ensuring effective and regular communication by building the capacities of stakeholders on communication, information and knowledge management. Below are the detail responsibilities:

1. Compliance to Policies, Rules/Regulations and Guidelines 

  • Adhere to relevant policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines of TSK (Personnel, Financial, Administrative policies, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Guide; Sexual Harassment & Child Protection Policy; Code of Conduct) and other specific policies applicable for TSK;
  • Ensure Conflict Sensitive Programme Management at all levels;
  • Compliance with the GoN and TSK and Donor's policies and approaches as relevant and required.

2. Information, Documentation and Knowledge Management 

  • Structure and update a database of TSK’s publications, tools, pictures, videos, testimonies and other products on project’s experience and knowledge;
  • Advise on the needs and priorities for documentation of project components and processes;
  • Support the project team in documenting reflections, processes, achievements and outcomes of the project;
  • Facilitate workshops, learning exchanges and processes;
  • Take a lead in proposing, preparing and drafting publications on TSK knowledge, lessons learned and advocacy material by developing audio-visual and printed documents such as stories, documentaries, booklets, reports, case studies, etc.;
  • Support in the development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and manuals for project activities in coordination with the convened team members;
  • Contribute to the writing of project’s periodic progress reports as required;
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Yearly Plans of Operation (YPO) and activity plans;
  • Advise project components aiming at or necessitating information/awareness-raising activities.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation and Programme Management 

  • Create a quarterly M&E work plan in coordination with team
  • Work alongside with programme team to develop/adapt tools for each activity and assessment and stories collection through storytelling workshops, and thereafter produce narrative/ data summary reports to assist Program Director in assessing achievement of work plan, log frame targets and other programme objectives
  • Track the tool roll out and data flow process by working closely with the programme staff to generate and collect required information and data in the process of measuring results
  • Work with the program team, especially the partner staffs and implementation team to ensure effective monitoring and reporting of activity deliverables, which are consolidated and analyzed in a summary report and to be provided to Team Leader
  • Conduct regular activity monitoring and ensure that the implementation team is updating the standard monitoring form
  • Work closely with all TSK team and partners staff to Develop accountability and transparency mechanisms for the program 

4. Coordination, Collaboration and Capacity building 

  • Build the capacities and accompany TSK’s partners to document and disseminate information on project activities as appropriate;
  • Work in coordination with the project team on all matters related to knowledge and information management;
  • Assist the team in any other task when required.

B)  Required qualifications, knowledge and experience:

Applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in any faculty with 3 years of work experience in the similar field. The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge and skills on research, communication, social media use, monitoring and evaluation. Understanding and working experience of Nepal’s radio sector and media related work would be an added value. The applicant must have a good command of both Nepali and English language and passionate advocate for women's rights.
