Position: Junior Technician

Duration of Contract: Fixed term till December 2026 (with possibility of extension)

Gross Salary: NRs 584320 annum (commensurate upon qualification and experience)

NGO background: Community Development Forum (CDF) Nepal is a leading national-level non-governmental organization headquartered in Silgadhi, Doti district of Nepal. Since its establishment in 1994, CDF has been at the forefront of promoting Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives, particularly in rural communities of the Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces of Nepal.

Registered at the District Administration Office Doti (Reg. No. 36), CDF has dedicated significant efforts to improving access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education in underserved areas. The organization provides leadership training and mobilizes communities for income-generating activities, including technological assistance in agriculture, livestock management, and cultivating high-value cash crops to alleviate poverty and upgrade rural infrastructure.

Additionally, CDF addresses health and sanitation issues, including HIV/AIDS awareness, and advocates for women empowerment child right, human rights, gender equality, and peace and development. The organization is also committed to addressing the impact of climate change on agriculture, livelihood, forests, and water resources, as well as disaster risk reduction and humanitarian support.

CDF Nepal has more than 31 years of working experience in various sectors like income generation, livelihood, agriculture & food security, health & nutrition, family planning, WASH, human right, gender & advocacy, environment protection, renewable energy promotion climate change /DRR and so on. Till now, CDF Nepal has successfully completed 51 projects in partnership with a dozen of donors/funding partners in Karnali and Sudurpaschim province of Nepal.

With technical and financial support of Good Neighbors International Nepal, Community Development Forum Nepal is going to implement “Integrated Community Development Project” in Shikhar Municipality, Purbachuki Rural Municipality & Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality  District.

Job Description 

The incumbent will be mainly focused on the following major duties and responsibilities.

Planning and Implementation 

  • Prepare monthly work plan of POA activity based on local context;
  • Execute the activities mentioned in the plan of action in coordination with the supervisor;
  • Identify the potential Income Generating Activities (IGA) in the groups or cooperative working area;
  • Support supervisor to identify business service packages for the groups or cooperative;
  • Select site and community for the implementation of income generation program activities in close coordination with supervisor;
  • Explore and plan for groups or cooperative business at the community level;
  • Assist groups/cooperatives to develop their annual plan and budgeting.

Training and Development

  • Arrange entrepreneurship development training to the potential entrepreneurs, Agriculture skill training.
  • Support to train groups or cooperative business development. 
  • Plan and implement workshops on financial services available for the member of groups or cooperatives.
  • Provide regular business counseling to members, groups or cooperatives.
  • Provide cooperative education, business & financial literacy training to groups or cooperative members;
  • Support to update groups or cooperative policies & guidelines;

MEAL

  • Assist in carry-out periodical assessment of project in order to assess the gap in operational practices of project interventions;
  • Conduct field visits to observe, monitor and evaluate the project interventions and utilization status;
  • Prepare report based on project requirement;
  • Review physical and financial progress of project interventions; 
  • Collect relevant information and support to prepare case story, best practices, lesson learnt.
  • Assist in feasibility of infrastructure activities;
  • Collect and support to analyze and verify the monthly financial report of groups or cooperative 
  • Support supervisor to prepare monthly Revolving Fund Status Reports;
  • Keep record of production and sales data of the individual entrepreneur(s), groups or cooperative business;
  • Support supervisor to carryout market survey for linkage of products from members, groups or;
  • Support to conduct public audit; 

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Coordinate with the municipality and ward level stakeholders for the quality implementation of the project activities and building synergy at local level;
  • Facilitate to conduct regular meeting of groups or cooperative and help them to plan appropriately for enhancement of their livelihood;
  • Collaboration with marketing actors to expand market of groups or cooperative; 
  • Encourage community to strengthen groups or cooperatives and make them self-inspired, self-reliant, self-sustained;

Qualification and required skills:

  • Intermediate in I.Sc.Ag. Livestock/Agriculture level with at least three years of experience’ 
  • Hands on experience in group financing, cooperatives and cooperative business development.
  • Should have community mobilization and communication skills;
  • Ability to communicate in English, Nepali, and local languages; 
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines;
  • Preferably have two wheelers driving license.
