Dalit Jan Kalyan Yuba Club (DJKYC) is a non-profit social organization registered with the District Administration Office of Siraha. Its central office is located in Ward No. 10 of Lahan Municipality. For the past 25 years, DJKYC has been actively serving communities across a wide range of sectors, including Dalit rights, Harawa–Charawa (HC) rights and empowerment, food and nutrition security, education, governance, women's empowerment, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
Having collaborated with more than 22 partner organizations, DJKYC is currently working with WaterAid Nepal, Plan International, Freedom Fund, MCC Nepal, and the Rotary Club, while also exploring potential partnerships with local governments.
In its ongoing efforts to expand outreach, DJKYC— in partnership with Mennonite Central Committee Nepal (MCCN)— is ongoing an Integrated Livelihood Agriculture Project aimed at supporting Dalit and marginalized communities in Bariyarpatti and Nabarajpur Rural Municipalities.

Position: JTA (Agriculture)-1
Organization: Dalit Jan Kalyan Yuba Club (DJKYC)
Project: Integrated Agriculture and Livelihood Improvement Project.
Duty Station: DJKYC Office, Bastipur (Pradip Giri Ashram), Bariyarpatti RM and Navarajpur RM Siraha District ( 5% Office and 95% field base job)
Reports To: Technical Officer (Agriculture) and Sr. Project Coordinator
Duration: Initial three (3) months’ probation period. Based on satisfactory performance, the contract will be extended for one (1) year, with the possibility of further extension.
Based Area: Project community
Qualification and Experience:
- Agricultural JTA should at least have completed TSEE/TSLC with at least two years of experience in community empowerment in agricultural sector or I.Sc. Ag. With a years' experience in agricultural promotion in the rural community.
Purpose of the Position:
The Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) will provide technical support to farmers in rural and marginalized communities, assisting in the implementation of agricultural development programs, the adoption of modern farming practices, and the use of technology to improve productivity and sustainability. The JTA will work closely with farmers, particularly in poor marginalized and Dalit communities, to provide hands-on assistance in fields, manage data collection, and ensure the effective execution of agricultural projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Field Support and Technical Assistance:
- Provide on-the-ground support to farmers by assisting with the implementation of modern farming techniques, including pest management, crop rotation, irrigation systems, and soil health improvement.
- Assist farmers in adopting technologies like automated irrigation systems, soil moisture sensors, and mobile-based farming applications.
- Help in demonstrating farming practices and technologies to farmers and local stakeholders through field visits, workshops, and one-on-one sessions.
2. Data Collection and Monitoring:
- Collect data related to crop health, soil conditions, pest/disease outbreaks, and other agricultural indicators from the field.
- Monitor the progress of agricultural projects, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and according to specifications.
- Record and analyze field data and report on the effectiveness of different farming interventions (e.g., technology adoption, crop management techniques).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of field activities, farmer engagements, and project outcomes.
3. Support Training and Capacity Building:
- Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions and workshops for farmers on modern farming techniques, the use of agricultural technologies, and sustainable farming practices.
- Provide hands-on training to farmers in the proper use and maintenance of agricultural tools and technologies.
- Support the Agriculture Officer in creating training materials, including visual aids, manuals, and digital resources for farmers.
4. Support for Agricultural Projects:
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of agricultural projects, including crop cultivation, livestock management, and rural development initiatives.
- Help farmers and communities with resource management, such as water usage, fertilizer application, and pest control, based on project guidelines and recommendations.
- Ensure that projects are running smoothly, on time, and in compliance with agricultural standards.
5. Community Engagement and Outreach:
- Engage with Dalit and rural communities to understand their agricultural needs, providing technical advice and solutions that address their specific challenges.
- Act as a liaison between farmers and senior technical staff, ensuring that farmers receive timely advice, support, and access to resources.
- Promote community participation in agricultural projects, ensuring that all members, including women and marginalized groups, are actively involved in decision-making processes.
6. Reporting and Documentation:
- Assist in the documentation of field activities, including reports on project progress, technical support provided, and the impact of interventions.
- Prepare regular reports on field data, challenges, and successes, to be submitted to the Agriculture Officer or Project Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of all training sessions, field visits, and technical assistance provided.
7. Support the Adoption of Agricultural Technologies:
- Promote the use of digital tools for farm management (e.g., mobile apps for tracking crop health, weather predictions, and pest management) among farmers.
- Help implement technology-driven solutions, ensuring farmers are comfortable with mobile platforms, farm management software, and other digital tools.
