Details / requirements:

DEPROSC-Nepal is one of the implementing partners of Knowledge-based Integrated Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition (KISAN) Project (funded by USAID) being implemented in 20 districts in western regions of Nepal. The primary objective of the KISAN is to sustainably reduce poverty and hunger in Nepal by achieving inclusive growth in the agriculture sector, increasing the income of farm families, and improving nutritional status, especially of women and children. Position: ITs, different districts of KISAN (three)

Major Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Irrigation/MUS Expert on survey works in the KISAN districts and VDCs to expedite status of irrigation and potentials for specific interventions for the client Farmers Groups (FGs), and prepares timely updates;
  • Contributes in feasibility and all necessary surveys, design and/or maintenance of the small irrigation infrastructure units like MUS, shallow tube-well, water-harvest ponds/tanks, canal rehabilitation works, small lift irrigation, micro-irrigation for the KISAN target areas;
  • Assists in collection and processing of the quotations for irrigation infrastructure and service materials from potential vendors as per KISAN criteria;
  • Contributes in the installation, construction and/or repair of the existing irrigation units in the sites with active participation of the client-FGs;  
  • Undertakes other works assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification and experience:

The applicant should have Intermediate degree in civil engineering (overseer) with at least 1 years of work experience or sub-overseer having 2 years of work experience in design and installation of the irrigation units. Preference will be given to those with experience on small irrigation infrastructure works like MUS, shallow tube-well, water-harvest ponds, canal rehabilitation works, small lift irrigation, Micro Irrigation Technologies etc.

Capacities:

  • Coordinate with multiple clusters of a big scale program in multiple districts,  
  • Lead and efficiently administer key staffs, 
  • Budget planning, execution, financial report production and reporting as per agreements and norms of the organization, 
  • Skills in monitoring, evaluation, program reporting, presentations,
