Job Overview:

Under the guidance of the Country Director and the supportive supervision from the Global Institutional Fundraising Manager, the Institutional Fundraising Manager will lead and coordinate institutional fund-raising activities for Nepal Country Office.

The incumbent will develop fund-raising strategy for Nepal Country Office in line with CBM Global Federation Strategy. S/he will cultivate and strengthen relationship with institutional donors, foundations, corporations, I/NGO partners, and other stakeholders, explore and identify relevant funding opportunities and contribute to diversification of Country Programme Portfolio. S/he will develop quality proposals and manage entire project development cycle in close collaboration with the Nepal Country Team, CBM Secretariat, Technical Team and Member Associations.

Based: This position will be based in CBM Global Nepal Country Office, Sanepa, Lalitpur.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop fund-raising strategy for Nepal Country Office in line with CBM Global Federation Strategy. 
  • Work closely with the Global Institutional Fundraising Manager to identify institutional funding capacity gaps in the country office and build capacity of the country team in the required areas.
  • With support from the Global Institutional Fundraising Manager, review existing fundraising policies and procedures in place, update or modify where needed, and develop new processes that contribute to the successful fundraising.

Donor Relations and Fund-raising

  • Maintain good working relationship with existing donors, explore new donors and cultivate relation with the potential donors.
  • Explore and identify funding opportunities in the areas of CBM Global’s work, targeting wide variety of donor groups including institutional donors, corporations, foundations, etc. Identify and propose new approaches and ways of fund-raising where necessary.
  • Coordinate Go / No Go decisions for funding applications of Nepal Country Office.
  • Develop quality concept notes and proposals in close coordination with the Programme and Finance team, and global counterparts.
  • Lead and coordinate the proposal development process for Nepal Country Office.
  • Provide ‘surge capacity’ support for proposal development to other country teams as required.
  • Work closely with the Country Director and the Programme team to gather powerful stories and evidence from the project areas, develop promotional materials, and generate innovative ideas to enhance visibility of CBM Global’s work and cultivate donor interest in our work.

Coordination and Representation

  • Ensure effective collaboration with the Country team, Secretariat, Technical Team and Member Associations while developing project ideas and proposals.
  • Coordinate periodic learning sessions to reflect upon good practices and challenges of the fundraising activities of the Country Office.
  • Represent and participate in various strategic meetings and consultations related to fund raising within CBM Global, donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Actively engage in various national and international communities of practice to gather new ideas and enhance fundraising capacity.
  • Actively coordinate with other agencies for joint proposals/biddings.

Humanitarian Action

  • In case of Emergency in the country and requirement of the organization you should be flexible to deploy in the emergency response management initiatives as per the requirement of the organization.

Safeguarding 

  • Accountable for ensuring that all children and adults who come into contact with CBM’s programmes, are safeguarded to the greatest extent possible.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to all aspects of the CBMG Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, abuse and harassment policies and associated standards and procedures.

Key outcomes expected from this role

  • Institutional fundraising capacity enhanced in the Country Office.
  • Effective collaboration among various stakeholders within CBM Global federations for fund-raising activities.
  • Increase in Country Office programme portfolio.
  • Clear fund-raising strategy and procedures in place in the country office.

Person Specification

Experience and knowledge

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Fundraising in the development organisation.
  • A track record of success in building relationships and networks with donor organisations and writing and submitting winning funding applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of the donor environment and of current donor / funding trends
  • Experience in the disability sector*
  • Lived experience of disability*

 Qualifications, training, and education

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field of study.
