Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF) was established in April 2010 with a mission to have concerted public health action, research, and policy dialogue for health development, particularly of the socio-economically marginalized population. Details / requirements:

Nepal Public Health Foundation (NPHF) is implementing “Hazardous Organophosphorus Pesticide Poisoning in collaboration with the Centre for Pesticide Suicide Prevention (CPSP), University of Edinburgh, UK with an aim to substantially reduce the global number of suicides that occur as a result of pesticide ingestion. NPHF is seeking highly qualified and dynamic Nepali citizen for the following position:

Position: Research Officer

Reports to: Project Coordinator

Duty Station: Kathmandu with frequent travel

Job Responsibilities

  1. Researcher’s primary goal is high-quality data collection from the identified sites, which will include frequent travel to study hospitals. Researcher is responsible for submitting the data collected to the Consultant-Research and Policy Director regularly. 
  2. Facilitate data collection by networking and communicating with participating hospitals and forensic laboratories. Inform hospitals about the project and its goals, facilitate data availability, manage and maintain good relationships with participating hospitals.
  3. Assist in CPSPs understanding of different record-keeping models that may exist in participating hospitals and be able to describe the gaps in records keeping.
  4. Liaise with hospital staff to promote the project and on ways to improve data collection.
  5. Create and maintain good documentation of the project. Ensure timely generation of reports of the collected data to the key investigators. This would include technical reports as per format to CPSP, data compilation and storage.
  6. Other tasks are required.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor in Nursing with Master of Nursing /Master of Public Health (MPH) working experience will be added. 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in team and also with other stakeholders
  • Proficiency skills in reviewing literature and writing report
  • Fluent in English and Nepali (both speaking and writing)
  • Critical conceptual thinking and analytical skills

Skills and Experience: We are looking for a person who has prior experience in research, and project coordination experience.

  • Previous work experience as a researcher, preferably in a medical research project.
  • Knowledge and ability to navigate the health system of Nepal is preferred. 
  • Excellent people and communications skills.
  • Be able to enthusiastically work as a team player and on his/her own.
  • Good time-management skills, self-motivated.
  • Ability to take initiative and solve problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including in English.
  • Willingness to travel to the participating hospitals

Salary: As per NPHF’s financial rules 

Duration: Eight months
