DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based, non-missionary organization. We work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities and believe in life before death. In Nepal,we are involved in three thematic areas i.e. resilient livelihood and sustainable food security, active citizenship, and Humanitarian response and Disaster Risk Response. The DCA invites applications from qualified and competent Nepalese candidates for the following position based in Kathmandu.

Program Manager– Humanitarian  Response and DRR– 1 number: This is a senior level and thematic lead position for our Humanitarian and DRR program in Nepal. S/he will be responsible to provide result based strategic guidance, leadership management and capacity building to the DCA team and staff of partner organization in respective area and responsible for  overall programme planning and strategy development, partner portfolio management, fund raising, and innovation in promoting the vision, mission, and strategic goals of DCA in general and Humanitarian and DRR  programme.  In addition, s/he will be overall responsible to manage the humanitarian response and DRR programme and back donors projects, monitor humanitarian and DRR context, identify gaps, and ensure timely and adequate information on disasters unfolding in Nepal. Further, responsible to ensure timely, efficient, effective and accountable humanitarian response, develop capacity of staff and partners in relevant field, mainstream humanitarian and DRR strategies into other program, and deliver response and DRR program inline with DCA’s strategy.   

Required qualifications, skills and competencies: 

Post-graduate degree in any relevant field. At least 8 years of demonstrable work experience and comprehensive knowledge in emergency response and development works which minimum 5 years in an international organisation with similar responsibilities in relevant field with preferable significant overseas experience outside of Nepal. Experience in managing emergency responses and preferably experience in cash transfer programming, need assessment, market analysis and other practical humanitarian sectoral skills (food security and livelihood, WASH, DRR, Shelter, humanitarian advocacy, accountability and impact measurement, emergency finance, human resources and logistic).  Experience of emergency preparedness and a clear understanding of the emergency preparedness process. Experience of the humanitarian coordination system, humanitarian standards and principles, and humanitarian accountability initiatives. Well conversant in strategic management, results based project cycle management, partner portfolio management, accountability, fund raising, and knowledge management. Strong leadership, conceptual and analytical skills, team oriented and excellent communication skills, and advanced computer skills.
