Purpose of consultancy
Ipas Nepal has been working in close collaboration with the government of Nepal in accessing both first and second-trimester safe abortion services and post-abortion contraception by supporting the facilities, the providers, clinical mentors, and trainers for quality of the service since 2007. The Health Systems Consultant will support documenting the second-trimester abortion program in close coordination with the Health Systems team under the direct supervision of the Senior Health Systems Advisor, Ipas Nepal.

Scope of work
The consultant will perform the following activities as a part of the consultancy work:
- Liaise with the Health Systems team to obtain information on the process of implementation of the 2nd-trimester program and collect related reports and documents.
- Interact with key partners, trainers, and providers for their insight on the 2nd-trimester program led by Ipas Nepal with the standard questionnaire and document the inputs provided.
- Develop a standard questionnaire to interact with key partners, trainers, and providers.
- Contribute to the process of documentation through soliciting information and analysis of best practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to the program.
- Finalize the 2nd-trimester program document with inputs from Senior Health Systems Advisor and Ipas Nepal.
Deliverables
- Submission of the final version of the process document on the 2nd-trimester safe abortion program.
- Submission of the final version of 2nd-trimester safe abortion program briefs.
Required expertise and qualifications
- The candidate must have Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in public health, general medicine, or related disciplines.
- With 5 years or more experience in program documentation/report writing.
- With excellent knowledge of national safe abortion policies and guidelines and sexual and reproductive health rights.
- Has strong English writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and be flexible to adapt to challenging work environments.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
