Human Rights and Environment Development Center (HuRENDEC) is a leading non-profit making Non- Government Organization (NGO) registered in Kalikot district. Kalikot is a mountainous district of mid- western development region of Nepal lying in the southwest part of Karnali zone. It consists of 3 municipalities and 7 rural municipalities. Since its’ official establishment in 1996 (2053), HuRENDEC has been working on need-based action oriented multi-disciplinary areas through social mobilization especially focusing on Human Rights, Lobby and Advocacy for the rights of women, children, adolescents, youths and socially disadvantaged groups.

Now, HuRENDEC-Nepal, Kalikot is implementing “Community-based Red Panda Conservation in Nepal” in Tilagufa Municipality and Shuvakalika Rural Municipality of Kalikot district in partnership with Red Panda Network (RPN) from 2018.  The detail of the project can be found in the links @redpandanetwork.org/. The project has four major thematic areas viz., Research and Monitoring, Education and Outreach, Habitat Management and Sustainable Livelihood Promotion. For this, HuRENDEC-Nepal, Kalikot Invites application form result oriented and highly motivated Nepalese candidates for the following position.

1. Position: Field Program Officer

Contract Type: H-SC 6

Duty Station: Tilagufa Municipality and Shuvakalika Rural Municipality, Kalikot 

Report to: District Manager

Salary and Benefits: negotiable

Major Responsibilities

The Program Officer will:

  • Implement activities in the field and coordinate with the relevant stakeholders for its effective implementation according to the work plan under the supervision of Program Officer. 
  • Produce annual and periodic reports for the projects and submit them to the relevant agencies (such as admin, board, partners, government agencies, etc.).
  • Track and report issues and challenges faced during program implementation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with relevant government offices (Division Forest Office, District Coordination Committee, Community Forest User Groups, local councils, etc.) and local representatives, and/or the program staff as appropriate, to maintain relationships and collaboration to implement programs.
  • Timely submission of reports, minutes, photographs, field notes, and data after the completion of each activity.
  • Preparation of reports on outputs and outcomes, drafting letters, presentations, work plans, and strategies as required.
  • Collect reports, evidence, data, stories, news, and case studies related to the project implementation, its progress, and results.
  • Monitor the project activities and ensure timely completion and follow-ups.
  • Attend workshops and field visits as per requirements.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.

Qualification 

  • Diploma in Forestry with minimum of 2-years of experience and preferably Bachelor’s degree in Forestry/Environmental Science, or a related field with prior field-based work experience of 1 year and sound knowledge in natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood programs.
  • Good verbal and written communication in Nepali and English.
  • Good in handling MS Office packages (Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and email Google Workspace.
  • Skillful in searching for information on the internet, operating social media, and making news, blogs, and activity reports when needed.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and team-building skills.
  • Having experience or interest in working in the community level and conservation sector.
  • Ability to work in a team and frequently travel and work in remote areas and adverse field conditions for multiple months.
  • Able to generate project ideas from the learnings in the field.
