Field Coordinator
Blind Youth Association Nepal (BYAN) is a non-political, non-religious, not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established by blind and partially sighted (BPS) youth in Nepal. It was founded in 2011, registered with the District Administration Office in Kathmandu in 2012, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal. It is the only organization established by BPS youth in Nepal. Currently, BYAN has more than 500 members, organized into 10 district chapters located in Jhapa, Morang, Bara, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Kaski, Rupandehi, Banke, Surkhet, and Kailali districts. Memberships and chapter expansion are ongoing. As a rights-based organization, BYAN intends to play a proactive role in formulating, amending, and implementing legal provisions related to youths with disabilities. It also focuses on organizing and capacity-building of youths with disabilities across the country. BYAN has strong networking and cooperation with different government and non-government stakeholders working in various domains of disability. Additionally, BYAN is a member of the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal (NFDN), which serves as the umbrella organization for organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) in the country.

Position Description
Blind Youth Association Nepal (BYAN) is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate for the position of Field Coordinator based in Kathmandu. The Field Coordinator will work primarily in the field and will report directly to the Director, while carrying out activities under the close supervision of both the Director and the Chapter Presidents.
The Field Coordinator will be responsible for the effective implementation of the project 'Enhancing Youth Leadership for Empowering Young People with Disabilities' at the field level, coordinating with partners and stakeholders including government agencies, civil society organizations, organizations of persons with disabilities, young people with disabilities, and their parents/teachers. The role requires ensuring that project activities are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
About the Project
The project 'Enhancing Youth Leadership for Empowering Young People with Disabilities' aims to strengthen disability-inclusive youth leadership in Nepal by empowering young people with disabilities, building strong grassroots movements, and strengthening advocacy and networking. It will primarily focus on developing youth leadership and amplifying the voices of young disability leaders in Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Jhapa.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project activity plans in coordination with the Director and project team.
- Support in conducting field-level training, community peer-leadership labs, campaigning, advocacy initiatives, and chapter strengthening.
- Mobilize Field Volunteers to ensure smooth operation of field-level activities.
- Coordinate and network with OPDs, youth-led groups, CSOs, schools/colleges, and local/provincial governments.
- Carry out advocacy at local and provincial levels to strengthen inclusive youth leadership and movement building.
- Document activities, outcomes, and prepare reports.
- Lead social media campaigning and communication to amplify youth voices.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Management, or related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in youth leadership, advocacy, or development work (experience in disability rights will be an advantage).
- Good knowledge of disability inclusion, youth engagement, and networking.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and coordination skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word and other office software; skills in social media campaigning are desirable.
- Willingness to travel frequently to project districts (Kathmandu, Chitwan, Jhapa).
