Position: Emergency Response Coordinator (Consultant)

In response to recent flash floods in Rasuwa, across Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitwan, OHW is supporting the government in emergency support for affected communities, particularly pregnant and postpartum women, children, and other vulnerable groups within its Network of Safety. OHW has deployed a field support team to provide emergency response and relief support to affected communities and data management support to the health office. In this context, OHW is seeking an Emergency Response Coordinator (Consultant) to support the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the broader disaster response, including needs assessment, coordination with local stakeholders, data management, and support in relief and recovery in the affected communities.

Objective of the Assignment

To coordinate effectively in district-level emergency response, ensure continuity of maternal and neonatal health services, strengthen data management and reporting, and provide technical and coordination support to government authorities and relevant stakeholders to address the needs of affected and vulnerable communities.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate OHW’s emergency response activities at the district level, including planning, implementation, follow-up, and coordination of response interventions targeting affected and vulnerable populations.
• Coordinate with health offices, local governments, partners, health facilities, OHW teams, and other stakeholders to ensure continuity and timely access to essential services for pregnant and postpartum women and newborns.
• Support government bodies in the district to manage program and emergency response data by coordinating data collection from the field and health facilities, ensuring data quality and accuracy, maintaining databases and records, and preparing regular summaries and reports.
• Monitor and document response activities and emerging needs, identify implementation gaps, and provide timely updates and recommendations to the OHW team to support effective decision-making and adaptive response.
• Provide coordination and technical support to government authorities within the scope of work, including participation in coordination meetings, information sharing, joint planning, and other response-related activities as required.
• Other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Consultancy Period

• The consultancy period will be from September to November 2026, with the possibility of extension based on program needs, performance, and availability of funding.

Terms of Payment

• The consultant’s monthly remuneration will be determined based on their qualifications and relevant experience and will be paid every month upon submission and approval of the required supporting documents.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Public Health.
• Demonstrated experience in emergency response management, preferably in humanitarian or disaster-affected settings.
• Strong experience in data management, analysis, documentation, and reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills, with cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to work effectively in challenging field conditions and flexible working hours, while maintaining personal resilience and well-being.
• Willingness and ability to travel to and stay in disaster-affected and remote areas as required.
