Aasaman Nepal (ASN) ‘A pioneer organization for education and nutrition’, is one of the leading Terai based NGOs led and managed by social activists since its establishment in Dhanusha, Janakpur in 1999. ASN has been engaged in developing and implementing programs aimed at protection, promotion and fulfillment of child rights in Nepal. Currently ASN has been working in 10 districts under 6 Thematic Areas as: Education/Child Protection, Women Empowerment, Livelihood/ Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Health/ Nutrition and Good Governance.

ASN is implementing Aarambha [Girls Education Challenge (GEC)-Leave No Girl behind (LNGB)] Project supported by People in Need (PIN Nepal), with the financial aid of DFID in Bara and Rauthat district and invites applications from dedicated and qualified Nepali citizens for the following post based in Chandranigahapur, Rautahat of Province 2. 

1.  Position: Education Coordinator- 1 Nos

Duty Station: Chandranighapur

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Take lead role in Implementation, monitoring and management of output 1 of the project (Improved access to numeracy and literacy courses of Married out of School Adolescent girls) in joint support of Program Manager and key staffs.
  • Mentoring, coaching, monitoring and mobilization of program education officer, social mobilizers, female facilitators and volunteers including reporting and recording. 
  • Establish sound relationship, coordination and collaboration with community support agencies such as schools, SMC, PTA, Rural Municipalities and Municipalities
  • Mobilize Support structure (SMC, youth, women groups etc.) and families of out of school children.
  • Conduct Teaching and Learning (T&L) monitoring at CLCs on periodic basis, assess T&L gaps and develop action points to provide support to fulfill the gaps.
  • Conduct capacity gap assessment of Education Officers and CLC facilitators and provide necessary technical support on T&L to ensure their capacity to deliver quality of work. And track learning progress of learners as per the learning ambitions and indicators set by the project.
  • Identify T&L needs and barriers of girls in the CLCs and ensure the effective implementation and usage of T&L tools, processes and methodologies in the field.
  • Regularly review and adapt GESI self-assessment tool and T/L self-assessment tool in line with the needs of learners and their learning progress; and suggest program for required adaptation in terms of T/L methodology, tools, and materials.
  • Ensure the proper utilization of teaching and learning materials at CLCs.
  • Conduct various campaign e.g. school enrollment of all girls of the community, retention, anti-early child marriage and retention.
  • Curriculum review and development, in coordination with ASN central office and PIN
  • Support monitoring and evaluation efforts, particularly on teaching and learning related activities, through weekly, monthly, quarterly report analyses, data compilation and field visits.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly action plan and track implementation of activities as per the action plan 
  • Support in program planning and capacity building of program staffs and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and support to increase child participation especially target groups of the project through child led activities planning and implementation
  • Conduct in a manner that is consistent with the values and principles of the Aasaman Nepal and maintain highest professional standard as per GEC’s minimum standard.
  • Follow the code of conduct of Aasaman Nepal inside and outside the work place.
  • Candidate must fully understand and agree to abide by the safeguarding principles with regards to children and adults they come in contact through their work.
  • Conduct in a manner that is consistent with the values and principles of the Aasaman Nepal

  • Other relevant duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelors’ in Education with minimum 7 years relevant experience or Master’s in Education with minimum 5 years relevant experience, in education (non- formal education preferred), social work or sociology.
  • Good communication and coordination and networking skills.
  • An excellent computer skill on Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Nepali and English
  • Added value for local language like Bhojpuri and Bajika
  • Availability to travel may be required up to 75%.
  • Prior experience in training would be an asset.

Age Limit: Candidate between 21 years – 45 years are only eligible to apply for the above mentioned post.

Duration: Fixed term till July 2023 (Annual contract basis with three months’ probation period)

For the above mentioned posts, successful candidates will be appointed for one year with possibility of extension.

Selected candidates must adherence to Aasaman Nepal’s internal policies and procedures, protocols, Code of conduct with special attention to Child Protection Policies and Do No Harm approach including funding agency’s policies, guidelines and agreements.

Competent candidates from disadvantaged groups and inhabitants of the project districts will be given priority.
