Education Advisor

Chemonics International seeks an education advisor for the anticipated USAID/Nepal Early Grade Learning Activity in Nepal. This five-year activity seeks to provide technical assistance in the education sector to strengthen the capacity of national, provincial, and municipal government entities to improve learning outcomes for early grade students. This position will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities: 

• Provide technical oversight and guidance to the project on evidence-based curricular and instructional approaches and strategies to improve learning outcomes, including reading, math, and social and emotional support 
• Oversee the collection and use of performance data that measures the effectiveness of the education system in improving early grade learning 
• Liaise with subcontractors and staff to ensure the timely production of program-supported teaching and learning materials, early grade learning products and other supplemental materials
• Interface with government stakeholders at various levels to interpret collected data and to troubleshoot technical issues  
• Collaborate with other technical leads to achieve project outcomes 

Qualifications: 

• Advanced degree in education required; focus on education policy and/or management preferred 
• Minimum 10 years of experience in early grade education; data-driven programmatic experience to improve early grade learning is required  
• Previous experience working effectively with government counterparts, local organizations, and the private sector  
• Record of building the capacity of government and private counterparts  
• Proven knowledge of Nepal’s education system is strongly preferred  
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity 
• Fluency in English and Nepali is required
