ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE:

Nepal National Dalit Social Welfare Organization (NNDSWO) (1982) is a network based national organization having its district chapters in 76 districts in Nepal. Organization envisions an equitable and prosperous society free from all forms of discrimination, exploitation and poverty where human rights, social justice and dignity of all are equally respected. Its Mission is to 'eliminate caste-based discrimination and untouchability and empower people for dignified life'. Human rights, governance, education and livelihood are four core thematic programme areas of NNDSWO. Gender equality, conflict transformation, youth empowerment, and advocacy on inclusive DRR are major crosscutting themes. It has successfully managed projects on human rights, governance, education, adolescent empowerment, etc. in all regions of Nepal in partnership with a dozens of inter/national partners/donors.

JOB SUMMARY

Currently, NNDSWO is seeking competent, committed and dynamic candidates for the following position:

Proposed Role: District Programme Officer – 1 (NNDSWO's District Office Jajarkot)

Report to: Program Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure effective and efficient management of the NNDSWO's Project mainly related with Access of Education to Dalit and Capacity Development of Elected Representatives at local Government by establishing strong coordination among consortium members and providing technical backstopping to the project team in order to achieve project's objectives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the District Board and Members for strengthening district chapter in terms of organizational skills, policies, structures, systems, procedures and governance practices:
  • Call regular board meeting; take minutes of major decisions made by the boards
  • Implement activities outline in the approved quarterly district plans together with District Boards.
  • Ensure all progress and financial reporting documents are subsequently produced on time and communicated to all the relevant persons and stakeholders:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders i.e, beneficiaries, donors, government representatives and others I/NGOs;
  • Represent NNDSWO in related meeting/conference/forums etc. on behalf of Project at district level;
  • Work proactively taking every opportunity available to improve the education status of Dalits in the district;
  • Creatively work to identify ways to develop the district chapter and increase its popular support and reputation in the community;
  • Provide regular coaching/counselling service to scholarship recipients and parents by visiting their homes for their better performance and carrier;
  • Collect results of scholarship recipients send it to NNDSWO central office;
  • Ensure that the scholarship recipients are getting the amount of scholarship on right time and scholarship is utilized properly;
  • Monitor and Evaluate program output to ensure the planned activities are carried out on time and within the budget and ensure the best uses of resource and ideas;
  • Organization/arrange participatory review meetings in the district;
  • Keep all the necessary documents in proper order and use it as per needs;

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in social science or management disciplines with three years’ working experience in relevant project/ in the field of development.
  • Understanding of GON rules and regulations. Act and policies regarding nonprofit/social sector.
  • Knowledge of socio-economic and political context of Nepal.
  • Proven experience of working Education Scholarship Support.
  • Skilled in M&E and reporting skills
  • Planning and budgeting skill.
  • Communication and coordination skills 
  • Knowledge of participatory approach.
  • Presentation and Training skills
  • Good command on computer application including MS Excel and run office application software packages.
  • Fluency in Nepali and English both in written and spoken
