The Role

The Emergency Response Team provides timely, effective and accountable emergency assistance to populations affected by disasters and humanitarian crises. The team coordinates with government authorities, partners, communities and humanitarian actors to deliver quality humanitarian programming and strengthen local response capacity.

To provide overall field-level leadership, coordination, representation, and oversight of Oxfam's emergency response interventions in Nuwakot district, ensuring effective implementation by partner organizations and timely coordination with the Response Manager and humanitarian stakeholders. The role will support partners to deliver quality, accountable and gender-responsive humanitarian assistance to flood-affected communities while ensuring compliance with Oxfam standards, donor requirements and humanitarian principles.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who has the following experience, knowledge and competencies.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Disaster Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Studies or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, OR a Master's degree in a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in humanitarian and emergency response programming.

Experience & Skills:

1. Emergency Response Delivery

Lead and oversee timely, quality, and compliant implementation of emergency response activities, including assessments, planning, monitoring, risk management, and ensuring gender-responsive and accountable programming.

2. Coordination and Representation

Represent Oxfam in humanitarian coordination forums and maintain effective relationships with government authorities, partners, donors, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated and effective response delivery.

3. Partnership Management

Manage and support implementing partners to ensure quality programme delivery, compliance with donor and Oxfam requirements, capacity strengthening, and accountability.

4. Team Management

Provide leadership and supervision to district response teams, foster collaboration and staff development, and ensure staff wellbeing, safeguarding compliance, and adherence to Oxfam values.

5. Monitoring, Learning and Reporting

Ensure effective monitoring, reporting, quality assurance, documentation of lessons learned, and regular communication on programme progress, risks, challenges, and opportunities.
