Position Summary
Deputy Chief of Party - Palladium is seeking a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for an anticipated USAID funded program: USAID/Nepal Agriculture Transformation Activity. The goal of this activity is to catalyze transformation of Nepal’s agricultural sector required for inclusive economic growth. The objectives for this activity are: 1) Agricultural productivity, competitiveness, and diversification increased; 2) Enabling environment for private sector investment in agriculture and equitable access to market systems improved; 3) Climate and economic resilience of women, youth, and marginalized communities enhanced; and 4) Capacity of national agricultural research institutions and extension systems strengthened. The project will last 60 months, and this position will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will:
- Support the overall leadership of the Chief of Party (COP), by managing interventions across the Activity’s four objective areas.
- Support the COP with strategic leadership over the Activity’s partnerships and private sector engagement related interventions.
- Manage and coordinate interventions related to agricultural productivity, competitiveness, and diversification across all targeted value chains.
- Manage coordination with key stakeholders including Government of Nepal institutions, private sector, and civil society organizations to build capacity, leverage resources, and ensure high-quality technical programming.
- Manage engagements with short-term technical assistance (STTA) advisors to ensure high-quality technical programming and alignment with Nepal’s agriculture sector plans.
- Oversee and manage effective communications between cross-cutting, sectoral, and market-linkages teams.
- Assume the COP’s roles and responsibilities in the COP’s absence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least eight years of management and supervisory experience, working with development programs that are of similar scale and approach to this program; at least five of these years must be in a management or leadership position in the agriculture sector in Nepal.
- Demonstrated experience in relevant technical fields such as agricultural sector development, market system development, private sector engagement, agribusiness promotion, and/or access to finance.
- Demonstrated program management and capacity development.
- Knowledge of USAID policies, procedures, and reporting requirements; prior experience as senior management on a USAID-funded project preferred.
- Fluent spoken Nepali.
- Professional proficiency in English reading and writing.
