USAID Trade and Competitiveness (Udhyam Nepal) Activity is a five-year project to increase Nepali private sector participation in targeted global value chains by making them competitive, resilient, and sustainable. The Activity will chart a new growth path for private companies by supporting them to capitalize on global opportunities – targeting quality and high value exports (of products and services). It aims to foster sustainable growth, in selected value chains, by incentivizing actors (both private and public) through investments, innovations, employment, and a business enabling environment to expand their integration into the global market. The Activity is working to achieve the goal through the following objectives:
- To increase access to market-based financial and non-financial services.
- To increase productivity in sectors with high growth and employment potential; and
- To improve the investment climate and business enabling environment, for targeted sectors.
We are seeking for five qualified candidates to fill the short-term consultancy for a one-year contract (72 days of LOE, maximum 18 days per quarter for 4 quarters for each consultant).
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Data Consultant will support the work related to monitoring and evaluation of the activities implemented by the USAID Trade and Competitiveness in different part of Nepal.
To carry out activities under this consultancy, the Consultant will require expertise in data and monitoring preferably in the Nepal’s tourism, digitals services and agriculture sectors including skills in data coding, data collection, verification and validation, result monitoring, and support to Activity’s counterparts, grantees or subcontractors in data reporting, documenting and monitoring.
The Consultants will report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager and work closely with the and Objective Leads.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect information and data from the Activity’s partners, grantees and other stakeholders and provide onsite support to counterparts, grantees or subcontractors
- Collect qualitative data including transcribing and translation of the interviews and discussion for evaluation activities like outcome harvesting.
- Regularly verify and identify and rectify data inconsistencies and errors, and clean and preprocess data to ensure it is ready for analysis.
- Work as an enumerator during assessment and surveys as required
- Support to maintain and update databases, ensuring data integrity and security. Assist in the development and implementation of data management processes.
- Conduct basic data analysis under supervision and document data processes, procedures, and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to support data-driven decision-making.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to data-related discussions ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
- Assist MEL team and other team members with emerging data-related tasks.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's in economics, social science or related field
- Previous professional experience in data coding, data collection, verification and validation, result monitoring and documentation
- Familiar with data collection tools, such as Kobo and MS excel, etc.
- Demonstrate a high degree of independence, flexibility, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and attention to detail skills.
- Team player; willing to take direction from project management and work with others.
- Flexible and adaptive personality.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Self-starter, willing to take initiative, remain accountable, take ownership of work product and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Dedicated to professional development, improvement and open to receiving constructive feedback.
- Have an activity Pan Account registration, proof will be requested.
Location: Kathmandu based with potential travel. Note that Deloitte Consulting Overseas Projects, LLC will reimburse for lodging and transportation based on actuals for required field visits outside of homebase and according to the Activity’s Travel Policy.
