About the Organization:

Visible Impact (Visim) is a young-women-led not for profit company that aims to create a „visible impact‟ in the lives of youth, adolescent girls and women and their immediate families and communities with a focus on leadership development, advocacy and realization of their sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Established 6 years ago in 2015, Visim has been able to reach 23,000 adolescents and youth directly. 157 social champions have been empowered to be the voice in the community advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights, leading towards community-led local development as mandated in the federal setup by the Constitution of Nepal 2015.

About the Project:

Youth for Access to Abortion for Youth (YAAY) is a safe abortion advocacy project funded by Safe Abortion Action Fund. Visible Impact is currently implementing the second phase of the project which aims to:

  • Unleash young people as champions of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights with focus on Safe Abortion.
  • Increase awareness and improve attitudes of health care providers on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights with specific focus on safe abortion in a right based approach.
  • Ensure the sexual and reproductive health services are adolescent and youth-friendly.
  • Mobilize media professionals to challenge the existing stigmas around abortion.
  • Increase support and commitment of the federal level decision makers to decriminalize abortion in Nepal.

Overall purpose of the role:

The consultant will be responsible for developing a manual for 3-days residential boot-camp for health care providers on sexual and reproductive health and rights with specific focus on

safe abortion in a right based approach also focusing on increasing their awareness on adolescent and youth-friendly services. The manual will be used to provide the training to health care providers across different provinces. The trained health care providers will then work to apply their learning in their daily work and share their learning among their peers and fellows. The consultant will work in close coordination with the Program Officer under the supervision of Program Coordinator and will be responsible for research and development of the manual along with the translation of certain components of manual into Nepali. The consultant will regularly update the progress through submission of drafts and regularly communicate with the program team for inputs as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and desk review of training packages developed for a similar purpose.
  • Development of manual for the conduction of 3-days residential boot-camp among health care providers. The boot-camp will be about clarifying their values and improving their attitudes around abortion and increasing awareness on adolescent and youth-friendly services to be provided to health care providers across different provinces.
  • The manual should be designed in a user friendly manner that can be easily comprehended. Translation of certain components of manual which will be distributed as hands out to the health care providers.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • At least Bachelor‟s degree in any relevant field; with proven experiences of developing training packages, manual or guidelines, preferably for health care providers or engagement in similar assignments.
  • Should be a Nepali citizen, can be residing in Nepal or abroad.
  • Fluency in written Nepali & English.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with ability to organise and manage information, plan and manage workload, prioritise, and deliver to deadlines.
  • Commitment to consultation period and ability to communicate effectively via emails and phone calls as and when necessary.

The consultant is expected to submit the following documents/information to demonstrate their suitability.

  1. Technical Proposal demonstrating consultant‟s understanding of the ToR, the proposed methodology/approach and timeline for the deliverable and explaining why you are the most suitable for this consultancy.
  2. A financial proposal/budget.
  3. Consultant/ consultancy profile and CV(s).
  4. Sample of previous work that demonstrates the requirement.
