Consultant/Consulting Firm for Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment

Background

Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) is a national non-government organization (NGO) in Nepal founded in 1990, focused on research and service in environmental and public health, with a particular emphasis on WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene). ENPHO promotes sustainable development by demonstrating eco-friendly technologies and practices, ensuring safe water, sustainable sanitation, improved hygiene, and clean air through community-based approaches.

ENPHO in partnership WaterAid Nepal and Changunarayan Municipality is implementing the Building a Water-Safe and Resilient Municipality (SARWACHA) Project in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur, funded by the Dopper. 

Under SARWACHA Project, ENPHO invites applications from qualified individual consultants or consulting firms to undertake a Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment and develop an Emergency Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Package to strengthen climate resilience and emergency preparedness of the municipality. The assignment will include hazard and vulnerability assessment, GIS-based risk mapping, assessment of water supply schemes, schools and health posts, preparation of risk registers and priority actions, development of emergency procedures and action cards, stakeholder validation, and preparation of climate resilience inputs for the SARWACHA Blueprint.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should demonstrate proven experience in:

  • Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). 
  • Water resource management, WASH, and Water Safety Planning. 
  • Multi-hazard risk and vulnerability assessments. 
  • GIS, remote sensing, and spatial data analysis. 
  • Development of emergency response SOPs and contingency plans. 
  • Working with local governments, communities, and development partners in Nepal. 

A multidisciplinary team with expertise in Team Leadership, WASH/Water Resources, GIS & Spatial Analysis, and Climate Change/DRR is highly preferred.
