Practical Action is an International NGO, working in South Asia, Southern and Eastern Africa and Latin America with a Head Office in the UK. It aims to reduce poverty in developing countries - by introducing appropriate technologies for the communities, demonstrating results, sharing knowledge, building capacity to replicate and influencing others for scaling up. Practical Action is implementing a three year project, 'Poverty Reduction of Informal Workers in Solid Waste Management Sector (PRISM)' funded by the European Union. PRISM Project aims to improve the living conditions of the informal waste workers and enhance the social protection of the vulnerable groups dependent on solid waste for their livelihoods in five municipalities of Kathmandu Valley.
Practical Action Nepal Office seeks to recruit following positions based in the Country Office, Kathmandu.
Community Development Officer (CDO)
The CDO will report to the PM - PRISM Project. The CDO will be responsible for community mobilisation for piloting social protection schemes amongst informal waste workers and strengthening the solid waste market system to become more inclusive and pro-poor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelors Degree in economics, business management, development studies or related field with at least five years of work experience, proven experience on community mobilisation, experience with solid waste sector and informal sector is preferred. The incumbent should have strong communication, analytical and report writing skills with fluency in spoken and written English and Nepali.
