Other reporting responsibilities and internal cooperation parties:

Nepal Country Office (NEPCO), EU CSO Project Implementation Team (PIT), Finance & Admin Team, FCA’s headquarter in Helsinki: Service and Accountability Centre (SAC) Communication Unit at SAC.


Primary purpose of the position:

FCA Nepal Country Office, in consortium with Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance and Shanta Foundation is implementing EU-funded Voices of Change: Building Futures through creativity, identify and action in Nepal, a project designed to strengthen the creative potential, leadership, and social inclusion of marginalized youth across Nepal’s Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI).

The Communication Associate leads FCA Nepal’s visibility, communication, and documentation work, ensuring full compliance with EU communication and visibility requirements for the “Voices of Change” project  while  strengthening NEPCO’s overall  institutional communication. The  role  supports  content creation, media engagement, and dissemination across FCA & external platforms and contributes to amplifying youth, CSO and community voices from the project.

Description

Main Tasks:

Lead EU Project Visibility:

  • Ensure development and implementation of the Project Communication & Visibility Action Plan together with PIT and ensure all materials comply with EU branding and messaging requirements.
  • Coordinate visibility efforts with consortium partners across training, hubs, festivals, advocacy events, and other activities.
  • Produce   high-quality   photos,   videos,   stories,   and   communication   materials documenting project results. Ensure EU acknowledgment across events, Creative Hubs, publications, media outputs, and digital platforms.
  • Create and edit communication materials (stories, briefs, newsletters, press releases).
  • Develop and manage Project level social media channels in coordination with FCA SAC, and consortium partners following EU branding guidelines.
  • Maintain media engagement, update media contacts, and monitor coverage.
  • Support the preparation of communication materials for internal and external audiences, such as briefing notes, presentations, and reports across teams.


Strengthen FCA Nepal Communications:
  • Create and edit communication materials (stories, briefs, newsletters, press releases).
  • Manage FCA Nepal’s website and social media channels in coordination with FCA SAC.
  • Maintain media engagement, update media contacts, and monitor coverage.
  • Support development of FCA communication Strategy and its implementation together with BDM and Programme team.


Coordination & Knowledge Management:
  • Work with Creative Hub Coordinators and relevant knowledge management staff to document outputs and maintain digital archives.
  • Provide communication inputs for donor reports, PMT/PIT meetings, and partner coordination.


Safeguarding & Code of Conduct:
  • Ensure adherence to the organization's safeguarding, child protection, and code of conduct policies.
  • Promote safe, ethical, and transparent financial practices.


Other Duties:
  • Support field visits and content collection in project locations when needed.
  • Perform other communication-related tasks assigned by the Business Development Manager.


Competence, Experience, Skills, Knowledge Needed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 2 years of professional experience in development communication, digital storytelling, or media production.
  • Experience working with EU-funded or international development projects is an asset.
  • Strong writing and content creation skills with the ability to produce engaging stories and materials; excellent editing and attention to detail.
  • Tech-savvy, with proficiency in basic design and multimedia tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and familiarity with website content management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proven experience managing project specific social media and digital communication platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with diverse communities, youth groups, CSOs, and creative practitioners.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Commitment to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and inclusive, ethical storytelling practices.
  • Fluency in English and Nepali (written and spoken).
  • High integrity, adherence to financial and operational compliance, and commitment to FCA’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding standards.

  • Enhanced visibility of FCA in Nepal and strengthened relationships with relevant stakeholders.


Responsibilities and Independence:

  • Frequent travel to field locations.

  • FCA partners and strategic stakeholders such as implementing partner, Government of Nepal, and networks.
  • FCA SAC and NEPCO colleagues.


Substitution and Representation:
  • Representing FCA in different forums/events nationally.
  • Different forum meetings.
