SAHAS Nepal is looking a dynamic and energetic candidate for the following position:

1. Position: Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator

Duty Station: Central Office, Lalitpur with frequent visits of the project districts

Required number: 1

The main purpose of this position is to manage climate change, DRR and livelihood projects and to contribute to the implementation of SAHAS's strategy, technical backstopping in climate and DRR and other related issues to build relationships and develop new concepts to support the projects.

Academic qualification/experiences:

  • Master's degree in environment science with three year's experience in climate change, DRR, sustainable agriculture and in food security, nutrition
  • Experience of project management including planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of current climate change and DRR issues in Nepal
  • Familiar on climate justice with up-to-date poverty eradication strategies, policies and development practices in Nepal
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English

Major responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the district project team in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the field activities in line with the project goal and objectives
  • Coordinate the implementation of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change activities, working closely with the national and local stakeholders
  • Prepare guidelines and data set related to the management of climate change and DRR
  • Identify current and emerging risk factors, their underlying causes and actions that could help reduce the impacts of future hazards in the working areas of the organization
  • Development and management of programme and project plans, reviewing the plan regularly to ensure tasks and milestones are being achieved in a timely manner
  • Guide, assigned, supervised and lead in coordinated way while supporting the project team as a facilitator
  • Prepare/review project budget, track the expenditure of budget regularly and reporting 
  • Organise review meeting of the project at district, identify the gaps and issues and take the action accordingly for the further improvement
  • Monitor the progress of project related activities and prepare and submit quality monitoring report including activities performed during monitoring visit, key findings and recommendation 
  • Facilitate to develop the staff capacity to implement the project including developing their understanding and capacity to implement project activities
  • Linkage and network with province level departments and ministries, and I/NGOs for coordination and cooperation.
