Position Summary

The Civil Engineer (Land Development) supports land development projects by assisting with the preparation of civil design drawings, site plans, and technical documentation. The role involves working with project teams to support planning, design coordination, and documentation for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

The position requires attention to detail, collaboration with engineers and designers, and the ability to support project deliverables in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.

The successful candidate's role and compensation will be commensurate with their experience and qualifications, with opportunities for Lead or Senior positions for the candidates with extensive, relevant experience. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on site design and land development, including grading, drainage, roadway layouts, utility design, and earthwork.
  • Design stormwater systems such as detention/retention ponds, culverts, swales, and storm drains.
  • Prepare civil site plans, profiles, cross-sections, and other CAD/BIM drawings.
  • Use Softwares  like Civil 3D, Hydraflow, StormCAD, SWMM, or similar software.
  • Design water, sewer, and stormwater networks, including pipe sizing and manhole layouts.
  • Prepare erosion and sediment control (ESC) plans, grading plans, and construction details.
  • Do quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and engineering reports.
  • Use survey data, geotechnical reports, and GIS information for design work.
  • Work with Architectural, Structural, Electrical, MEP, and Environmental teams to solve design issues.
  • Support construction by answering technical questions, reviewing site markups, photos, and construction processes.
  • Manage several tasks at once, keep your work organized, and communicate clearly in English.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in civil or land development design.
  • Good skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including grading, surfaces, alignments, and pipe networks.
  • Understanding stormwater engineering and utility design.
  • Basic knowledge of U.S. zoning, land development standards, and permitting (training will be provided).
  • Strong skills in Excel.
  • Ability to read surveys, soil reports, and planning documents.
  • Good English communication skills—both written and spoken.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • Experience with U.S.-based land development or site development projects.
  • Skills in Hydraflow, StormCAD, WaterCAD, HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar software.
  • GIS experience (ArcGIS or QGIS).
  • Experience with BIM 360, Revit, or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of U.S. documents such as Drainage Reports, Grading Plans, Utility Plans, and ESC plans.
  • Applicants with advanced qualifications and greater experience will be prioritized and may be offered a senior role.
