About BAS Nepal

BAS Nepal is a youth-led, grassroots non-governmental organization established by active young citizens with a mission to create a corruption-free society through public awareness, social accountability, civic mobilization, and good governance. The organization works across 77 districts in seven provinces with over five thousand members, focusing on thematic areas including good governance, anti-corruption, social accountability, youth empowerment, volunteerism, child protection, gender-based violence prevention, and community empowerment.

DETAILS/REQUIREMENTS:

Job Title: Civic Engagement Officer (1)

Duty Station: BAS Nepal Provincial Field Office Dhangadhi, Kailali, Sudurpashchim Province 

Contract Length: 15-months

Salary & Benefits: As per organization policy/Project rule. 

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public policy, Law or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in civic engagement, governance, or community mobilization
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and documentation skills
  • Experience working with youth and marginalized communities preferred.
  • Working Experience on Officer label. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement civic engagement strategies targeting youth and marginalized groups
  • Facilitate coalition dialogues, consultations, and participatory processes
  • Support development of shared agendas and advocacy priorities
  • Strengthen linkages between citizens, CSOs, and government stakeholders
  • Contribute to preparation of briefs, reports, and advocacy materials

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Civic Engagement, Federal, provincial and Local government structure, Youth and marginalized groups.
  • Strong communication skill for Provincial, local government and stakeholders. 
  • Facilitation, communication, coordination, and report-writing skills in English language.
  • Experience in field monitoring, documentation, and advocacy.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office, digital communication tools and both English and Nepali Language.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, with frequent field travel.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, accountability, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
