The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) is an intergovernmental organization established in 1995, with member states across all continents, which aims to support sustainable democracy world-wide and assist in the development of institutions and the culture of democracy. At the interface between research, fieldwork and the donor community, International IDEA provides a forum for dialogue, builds networks of experts, develops training materials and provides strategic advice at the international, regional and national level, cooperating with a range of organizations.
Since 2017, International IDEA is implementing a programme - known as the Coherence Programme - to support a more cohesive and coherent functioning of Democratic Local Governance in Nepal.
The Coherence Programme, funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) Nepal, focuses on developing and piloting new ways of working at the local government level to promote democratic local governance through developing systems of both political coherence and oversight.
International IDEA is looking for young graduates or professionals to form field teams – “Local Government Support and Mentoring Teams” – to provide support and mentoring services to 5-7 palikas in Karnali Province. The assignment will start mid January 2019 and run until 31 July 2019.

Interested candidates with the described profile are invited to submit their CV and a written application to info-nepal@idea.int by 26 November 2018 . Please mention “Local Government Support and Mentoring Team” in the subject line.
In the application letter please describe how you think you can contribute to the objectives of the programme (described in the background) and why you think you are suitable for the local government support/mentoring role.
The application letter can be either in Nepali or English language (entirely up to the candidate to choose) and should be up to a maximum of 400 words.
A shortlist of applicants will be established from the submissions received. Please note that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted regarding the next steps.
