Call for Consultancy for a MERL Consultant

dZi Foundation is a US-based non-profit organization working with rural communities in Nepal to achieve prosperity by eliminating barriers to basic needs, fostering opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, and building their capacity to catalyze transformational change. dZi partners with communities for three multi-year stages to support complementary health, education, and livelihoods programs that unlock local opportunity, build more unified communities, and create lasting solutions to complex local challenges. dZi provides communities with the skills and resources needed to design and implement these community-led projects.

Call for Consultancy

At present, dZi concentrates its work in eastern Nepal, mainly in Solukhumbu, Khotang and Bhojpur, to implement most of its field-based activities with a programmatic focus on health, education and livelihood works. The call is to hire the service of an expert to provide strategic support and contextual knowledge in the conceptualization and formulation of dZi’s MERL plan to roll out the 7-year strategic objectives.

Deliverables

In direct coordination with the international MERL consultant and dZi’s MERL team, provide:

  1. Input in the selection of technology tools, formulation, and implementation of the MERL plan.
  2. Contextual knowledge, technical robustness and feasibility in refining the theory of change, core domains of change, and accompanying indicators.
  3. Support in conducting consultation, and meeting with relevant stakeholders as needed.
  4. Expert review in the drafting and finalization of the Prosperity Scorecard.
  5. Technical review and input in mapping out key workflows and interventions required to set up and roll out new approach and learning system.

Duration of the Consultancy

The duration of the consultancy is approximately 20 working days between April 4 to May 9, 2023.

This may be extended contingent on the emergence of additional needs.

Minimum Qualification of the Consultant/s

  • Should have completed a master’s degree in political science, sociology, management, or a relevant discipline.
  • Should have successfully completed at least three assignments of a similar nature.
  • Should have a sound knowledge of national and subnational, preferably in the eastern part of Nepal, political economy, development-focused policy priorities, emerging governance landscape, CSO dynamics and roles in social and community development, and gender and social inclusion.
  • Should be proficient in English and Nepali, both written and spoken.
  • Should possess analytical skills, sound interpersonal communication, reporting writing, and presentation skills.
  • Others relevant to efficiently carry out the deliverables, listed above.
