The Rural Women’s Development and Unity Centre (RUWDUC)

The Rural Women’s Development and Unity Centre (RUWDUC) was established in 1995 with the objective of empowering and uplifting disadvantaged women, adolescents and children. RUWDUC believes every human being has an inherent right to a healthy life, equal opportunities to avail education, employment, quality health care, and access to justice, and to live a violence-free and peaceful life, devoid from all forms of discrimination.

RUWDUC/CMHP Project now seeks application from Individual Consulting Personnel/Expert to conduct Feasibility Study for the "Construction of Micro Hydro Project (CMHP) at Bhageswor, Dadeldhura" in partnership with OXFAM in Nepal and Bhageswor Rural Municipality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The consultant/s should actively work on the following components: 

• Project location including boundary points (four corners) of the project area in longitude and latitude
• Basic information about the river hydrology such as catchment area, expected mean annual flow, minimum mean monthly discharge and proposed design discharge
• Proposed project components with design parameter 

a. Dam/weir location and type, type of intake (side, frontal) weir, side intake, settling basin: length, width and number of chambers. 

b. Details about other waterways such as headrace tunnel, headrace canal or pipe, forebay or surge shaft and penstock pipe. 

c. Powerhouse: tentative dimensions of the structures and whether this will be a surface or underground type of structure 

d. Generating units: number of turbine/generator units, type and capacity

• Transmission line: estimated length to interconnection point electricity grid, number of poles etc. and voltage level.
• Power and energy estimate: a. Gross head b. Installed capacity c. Total annual energy d. Total dry energy e. Total wet energy f. estimated loss and estimated life span
• Holistic approach for uplifting the living standard of people residing at Basin area, potential energy users and usages 
• Cost benefit, its maintenance schedules and cost required. Please suggest how best to meet it

As per the guidelines of Nepal government, this assignment  should follow and include the major components such as but not limited to;

 a) Available maps and Images

 b) Topographical Surveys, mapping, plotting, reporting and data presentation

 c) Annual River/Ground water conditions and availability

 d) Command area confirmation

 e) Beneficiary mapping and suggestions including its growth and coverage

 f) Hydrological and Sedimentation studies, Best recommendation

 g) Geographical/Geotechnical studies, general geology and geomorphology of major project components, implications, suggestions

 h) Construction material surveys, lists and transportation schedule 

 i) Seismic Study and project specific hazards, suggestions

 j) Selection of Project Components and Project Layout

 k) Optimization Study, approaches and suggestions

 l) Project Description, design, Civil structure, hydro/electro-mechanical components, 

 m) Construction planning schedules and approaches 

 n) Power evacuation and Transmission line

 o) Energy Computation and Benefit Assessment

 p) Cost and benefit Estimation on a five year basis, criteria and assumptions

 q) Construction planning and schedule

 r) Environmental Study and advice

 s) Presentation Drawings, Maps, Charts, Tables and relevant data

 t) Possibility of multipurpose projects

 u) Gender Equality and Social Inclusion

 v) Other supports requires as discussed during the process

 w) Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats

 x) Recommendations and way forwards
