EcoHimal Nepal is a national Non-Government Organization founded in 2009, with the aim of achieving Sustainable Development through Community Empowerment in rural mountain areas.  It aims to enhance the livelihood of unreached and marginalized communities through grassroots initiatives and in-depth involvement, without disturbing local ecology and social and cultural structure. “Participation - Ownership - Sustainability” is the main theme of the organization.

EcoHimal is establishing a national agroforestry centre (NAC) - Everything Organic Next (EVON) in Patlekhet, Kavreplanchowk. It will be a centre where agricultural skills, seed, seedling/sampling production (as knowledge, skills and production hub) would be a great initiative to institutionalize the success concept of Community Led Agroforestry in a local level and beyond. 

Hence, it is seeking a dynamic “Agro-Forestry Trainer and Finance Assistant as follows:

A. Agro-Forestry Trainer

Location: Kavreplanchok District with frequent travels to the EcoHimal Project area and beyond.

Expected Start Date: 10th April, 2024

Duration of the Contract: Three Year, with possibility of extension

Probation Period: 6 months

Salary: A competitive NGO salary will be offered

Responsibilities / Job Description: 

  • Identify and assess current training needs of different organizations, line agencies and individual farmers.
  • Develop and organize training contents, manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
  • Develop training and assessment checklists, training plans and conduct regular training.
  • Design and expand training programs throughout the country and beyond in conjunction with, (organic agriculture, horticulture, seedlings/saplings production/plants propagation, seeds production, farm management, diseases pest management and control and more)
  • Develop promotional materials, coordinate with national, international organizations, stakeholders, line agencies and share training packages to cover diverse participants.
  • Plan budget for each training, with income and expenditure prediction and communicate with finance department
  • Regular reporting, maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices.
  • Support guest, farm activities and personnel management.
  • Undertake other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time.

Qualification: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, preferable Master. Minimum 5 years of experience in training, farm management, production and marketing.

B. Finance Assistant 

Location:  Kathmandu Office with frequent field visits 

Expected Start Date: 10th April, 2024

Duration of the Contract: Long-term 

Probation Period: 6 months

Salary: A competitive NGO salary will be offered

Responsibilities / Job Description: 

  • Maintain filing of monthly accounting vouchers, journals, spreadsheets and other finance documents;
  • Carry out admin and financial works e.g. bank, tax, purchase etc. 
  • Conduct excel entry of bills/expenses received from project staff members 
  • Photocopy, scan and translate the financial documents when required;
  • Help finance officer for the accounting vouchers and other financial supporting documents when needed;
  • Getting familiar with accounting / finance management in the organization;
  • Carry out visits to periodic field visits as instructed by the management to collect bills and expenses settlement 
  • Support finance officer and project staff members for preparation of annual plan; 
  • Support finance officer for financial monitoring, control over budget utilization and successful implementation of the overall projects/programme 
  • Support finance officer to ensure cost- effective, timely and result based management of the project and generate necessary formats for budget utilization.
  • Support to admin and finance for efficient office management as and when necessary
  • Support in handling and maintenance of regular administrative tasks (staff attendance register, leave records, staff movement log book etc.)
  • Responsible for record keeping of office asserts and stocks. 
  • Responsible for any other tasks outside their prescribed areas as assigned by senior management.

Qualification: 

  • +2 in management, preferable Bachelor. Minimum 2 years of prior experience. Computer skills including use of accounting software system and use of office applications.
