BYC Baglung, in technical and financial partnership with Heifer Project International Nepal, is implementing the “Kathekhola Mandarin Promotion Initiative.” The initiative aims to enhance the productivity, quality, and market competitiveness of mandarins through improved orchard and post-harvest management, nursery development, branding, and market linkages.

BYC Baglung invites applications from qualified, motivated, and results-oriented Nepali citizens for the following position:

Position: Agriculture Technician (1)

• Duty Station: Kathekhola Rural Municipality, Baglung
• Contract Type & Duration: Fixed-term (6 months, renewable based on performance and project needs)
• Reporting To: Project Coordinator
• Selection Process: Written Examination and Interview

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and advisory support to mandarin farmers on orchard establishment, citrus management, IPM, climate-smart practices, and post-harvest handling (grading, sorting, packaging, storage).
• Facilitate field group meetings, Farmers Field Schools (FFS), and practical training sessions.
• Support nursery development and the production of quality planting materials.
• Coordinate with farmer groups, cooperatives, local governments, agriculture offices, and market actors to strengthen supply chains and market linkages.
• Support branding, exhibitions, promotional events, and data collection.
• Prepare field reports, maintain beneficiary records, and document success stories with basic photography.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

• Education: I.Sc. Ag or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in agriculture extension, preferably in citrus or fruit crop development.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of citrus orchard practices, post-harvest systems, and agricultural commodity marketing.
• Competencies: Proven facilitation, report writing, interpersonal, and MS Office skills.
• Other Requirements: Ability to work independently with field travel. Valid motorcycle driving license preferred. Local candidates and experience with cooperatives or development projects are advantageous.
