Job Purpose
This role demands someone who already understands agriculture from the inside how crops grow, what threatens them, and how farmers make decisions under real field conditions. Practical crop knowledge is the foundation everything else in this role is built on. Equally important is the ability to manage field data responsibly recording accurately, organizing consistently, and working with spreadsheet tools to keep farmer and compliance records clean and usable.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field visits to assess crop health and production practices; identify signs of disease, pest damage, or nutrient stress and engage farmers on management.
- Coordinate with farmer groups and field staff to monitor field status and assist in seasonal harvest planning.
- Organize and assist in field inspections: verify field conditions, input use, storage areas, and record compliance.
- Review farmer production records and verify that entries are complete, consistent, and match field observations.
- Maintain and update farmer profiles, inspection logs, training records, and production data in Excel or Google Sheets structured, consistent, and error-free.
- Use spreadsheet tools to consolidate field data: area totals, yield summaries, missing entry flags, and reporting tables.
- Manage crop records from planting through post-harvest to support product traceability.
- Deliver farmer training on organic production practices, record-keeping, and field compliance — adapted to the crop and audience.
- Monitor and supervise farmers’ fields to ensure compliance with organic certification requirements.
- Support the implementation of Internal Control System (ICS) procedures and field-level activities under the guidance of the Certification Manager and Certification Coordinator.
- Prepare and submit regular field activity reports to the Certification Manager and Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of crop production system. Candidates who cannot speak to this from direct experience will not be considered.
- Working proficiency in structured data entry, multi-sheet management, and use of functions for record management and verification.
- Minimum 1 year of practical experience in agriculture or field extension work. Thesis or internship with direct crop or farmer contact is acceptable.
- Previous experience in organic farming and certification will get priority
- Good written and spoken Nepali; ability to write reports in English.
- Willingness to travel frequently within assigned districts; valid two-wheeler driving license or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with spice or high-value hill crops.
- Experience managing agricultural datasets. Familiarity with mobile data collection tools such as ODK or KoBoToolbox.
- Prior exposure to organic certification, quality assurance, or compliance work in agriculture or food export.
- Experience in community-level farmer training or agricultural extension.
- Candidates who can join immediately or start at short notice are preferred.
Salary: CTC Rs. 42,000 including all benefit / cash in hand Rs. 32,000
