Advocacy Officer/Project Officer/Social Worker
Voice of Children (VOC), a Nepalese NGO, working with street children and deprived families in urban poor areas. Voice of Children (VOC) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established on November 2000 with a mission to contribute for the improvement of the living condition of the Street Children and their families in Nepal. The organization mainly focuses on those children, who suffer from various kinds of problems such as sexual abuse, harassment and other forms of violence and exploitation in the street and strives to re-establish them in the society with special attention to their needs and rights. Assistance in different ways and through different programs focused on the enhancement of the physical, mental, social and financial condition is catered to the needy street children and their families in order to reshape their lives.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Voice of Children (VOC), established in 2000, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting and advocating for the rights of children separated from their families, including street-connected, sexually abused, and other at-risk children. VOC implements preventive initiatives against child sexual abuse, with particular attention to sexual violence against boys and other child rights violations. In addition, VOC builds the capacity of vulnerable families and works in collaboration with child protection stakeholders to reinforce local child protection mechanisms.
VOC is implementing a project, “Stopping cybercrime against children: More safety and protection on the Internet,” with the support of KNH and BMZ Germany. The project invites applications from qualified, dynamic, and result-oriented Nepali citizens to fill the following positions based in Lalitpur and Kaski districts.
1. Position: Advocacy Officer -1 (Based in Lalitpur)
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and build networks with government and non-government child protection agencies, educational institutions, private sector organizations, and media for policy advocacy and implementation.
- Develop and draft advocacy tools, training materials, and other promotional resources.
- Organize and facilitate training and workshops with key stakeholders on Online Child Protection.
- Represent the organization and support the formation of networks or groups with government and non-government stakeholders for Child Online Protection.
- Collect, document, and share project outcomes to support learning, advocacy, and decision-making.
- Undertake any other initiatives necessary to achieve the objectives of the project.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Sociology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in child rights and protection, including advocacy and legal processes.
- Excellent facilitation skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with multi-level stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with the capacity to generate innovative ideas and translate them into programs.
- Proficient in computers, including Nepali typing.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Nepali.
- Good knowledge of national and international laws and policies related to children, including online safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, flexible to work at irregular hours, and willing to travel outside the valley as required.
2. Position: Project Officer -1 (Based in Kaski)
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage and facilitate trainings, workshops, and orientations on Child Online Protection for relevant stakeholders.
- Implement activities such as e-learning on child protection and awareness campaigns on Child Online Protection.
- Formation and strengthen Child Rights Committees at the municipal and ward levels.
- Coordinate with service providers for the case management of children.
- Prepare activity plans and budgets, and implement them in coordination with like-minded organizations.
- Document and report project results and outcomes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience with children, particularly in online child protection.
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to engage effectively with child protection stakeholders.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Nepali typing.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Nepali.
- Good knowledge of laws and policies related to child rights and protection.
- Ability to work effectively in teams, flexible to work at irregular hours as needed.
3. Position: Social Worker -1 (Based in Kaski)
Main Responsibilities:
- Formation/reformation and capacity building of child clubs and radio listeners’ clubs on Child Online Protection.
- Organize workshops and awareness sessions for parents and community members.
- Support and provide services to children affected by online abuse.
- Conduct school and family visits to monitor the progress of children and project activities.
- Follow up on the activities of Local Child Rights Committees in municipalities.
- Collect data and prepare reports and case studies.
Requirements:
- An intermediate or Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the child rights sector.
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to raise awareness effectively.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Nepali.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Nepali typing.
- Ability to work effectively in teams, with flexibility to work at irregular hours as needed
