Women Forum for Women in Nepal (WOFOWON) is the first non-governmental organization which was registered in the Kathmandu District Administration on 6th Chaitra, 2064 BS (25th March, 2008 AD), dedicated to work for entertainment and hospitality (Dance bar, Dohori, Cabin restaurants, Khajaghar, and spa/massage centers) sector led by working women themselves. This organization has been actively engaged in promoting and ensuring the rights of working women in the entertainment and hospitality sector since its establishment. In addition to respecting the work of women workers, it has been conducting various activities with the aim and recognition that the working area should be violence-free, safe and dignified. WOFOWON is not only an institution and structure but also an organization and power for women workers. Through various activities and campaigns, the organization works to inform women workers about their rights and empower them collectively to ensure their rights. The organization is committed to raising a collective voice and empowering women workers to ensure their rights. WOFOWON invites application from eligible Nepali citizens for the following position:

1. Position: Advocacy and Documentation Associate

Required Position: 1 (Female only)

Duty Station and Work Station: Initially up to 31st December 2024 and possibilities of extension upon the performance, Kathmandu with frequent travel to implementing areas.

Job Summary

Our organization is seeking experience and professional Advocacy and Documentation Associate to join our team. Our ideal candidate must have passion and knowledge for “Leadership and Capacity building of women and girls working in entertainment sector”. The project focuses on advancing human rights and labour rights of women workers in entertainment sector. The position will also contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and plan. This position reports to the Program Officer.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support and work closely with Counselor, Outreach workers and community groups for girls’ empowerment and implementation of the project activities.
  • Engage in policy advocacy and lobby at different level, and conduct meetings.
  • Properly record and filing the documents
  • Report writing from a feminist perspective and human rights perspective.
  • Excellent coordination and communication with stakeholders. 
  • Should effectively coordinate and communicate with the community people
  • Should respect the work and have positive attitude towards work.
  • Should be able effectively manage and work in difficult situations.
  • Should abide by the organization’s rules and regulations.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, enthusiastic, spirit of activism and willing to bring creative ideas in the work

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or any other relevant subject with minimum 3 years of demonstrated working experience with human rights and labour rights of women workers in entertainment sector.
  • Having good coordination and communication skills.
  • Experience in report writing and documentation in both English and Nepali Language.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, enthusiastic, and having spirit of activism.
  • Good knowledge of computer (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Photoshop, Outlook, etc.)
  • Good spoken and written English and Nepali
