LI-BIRD is implementing a project entitled “Strengthening Adaptive and Inclusive Food Systems for Improved Nutrition and Climate Resilience” funded by BMZ with support from Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e. V. (WHH) from January 2026 to November 2029. LI-BIRD is a leading an advocacy initiative at provincial and national levels. The project aims to improve food and nutrition security of vulnerable communities in Nepal through inclusive and climate resilient food systems. The expected outcome is that the government and civil society decision makers at local, provincial and national levels apply community based and cross sectoral approaches to sustainably reduce chronic and malnutrition.

1. Advocacy and Communications Officer (Level 8) - (1): (Women only vacancy-To be based at Birendarangar, Surkhet)
Job Summary: Reporting to the Strategic Programme Lead, the Advocacy and Communications Officer (ACO) will be responsible to lead efforts to empower and capacitate civil society actors, their networks and food and nutrition system champions especially women and youth to advocate for and promote multisectoral coordination, peer learning and inclusive public service systems and governance for improved and sustained food and nutrition security. The ACO shall work closely with project partners and LI-BIRD's relevant projects and is responsible for supporting province in strengthening cross sectoral planning, integrating nutrition-sensitive actions into annual plans and budgets. Further, he/she will coordinate with the national and province planning commission to improve the Multisector Nutrition Plan (MSNP) Coordination Mechanism. The ACO needs to guide and support projects and partners in strengthening cross sectoral planning and coordination mechanisms at local levels and promoting community-based learning and innovation hubs linking nutrition education, climate resilient agriculture, WASH and livelihood opportunities.
Education and Experience: Master's degree in nutrition, public health and related subjects with three years of relevant experience in promoting nutrition-sensitive interventions, evidence-based advocacy and communication, coordinating multisectoral mechanisms for strengthening inclusive nutrition services.
