Job Summary:

The Finance Officer will be a part of dynamic team of Crater Construction. The Finance Officer will support Crater’s management of accounting systems, policies and procedures in compliance with established accounting standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), donors and client’s rules and regulations, and legal requirements to support high-quality programs. You will support in efficiently monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on Crater’s as well as sub contractors financial management systems and practices.

Under direct supervision and overall guidance of the Project Manager, the Finance officer is required to perform the following specific duties and responsibilities ensuring their quality, safety and timely completion of work:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and supporting documentation of financial transactions to ensure all required documents are accurate and complete
  • Help to ensure maintenance of all data required for processing financial transactions for assigned accounts
  • Perform assigned treasury (cash payment/receipt, Cash forecast, bank/cash management etc) duties as long as segregation of duties is ensured
  • Assist Crater’s management in month-end closing and year-end closing processes such as business rules review, CA process and Tax clearance
  • General journal (non-cash) transactions for cost allocation, adjustment/reclassification, prepaid expenses amortization
  • Prepare national staff payroll and ensure timely deposition of salary, benefit and employee tax.
  • Manage office supplies and stock, keep all records and property inventory current and support implementation of property management processes, such as property labeling, physical counts, etc.
  • Receive invoices and prepare transactional documents in support of general operations processes and support coordination of transaction processing
  • Prepare and collect files of all staffs working with Crater construction at all location
  • Perform any other duties as may be requested by the Project Manager and Crater’s upper management apart from the one mentioned above

Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • B.A. degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, and Business Administration highly preferred. Professional diploma/Certificate or courses in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration a plus.
  • Minimum of two years accounting experience, preferably with Construction Company, or a financial/banking institution.
  • Familiarity the government funded project regulations a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel and experience with Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of financial reporting software a plus.

  • Ethical conduct in accordance with recognized professional and organizational codes of ethics
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions oriented and results-oriented
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Candidates with driving skills and valid driving license (2 wheeler and/or 4 wheeler) will be preferred as this position will require some travel to government offices at district headquarters

Required/Desired Foreign Language     

  • Fluent written/oral communication in English and Nepali

Travel Required

  • A minimum of 15% travel to Client offices at district headquarters for processing and receiving payments
