The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified Nepali Nationals for the following position based in Gorkha.

VACANCY NOTICE NO: SVN#NP/05/16

POSITION TITLE: TB Screening Facilitator - 10 positions

CLASSIFICATION: Ungraded

CONTRACT TYPE: SST Daily Contract, 1 month with possibility of extension

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direct technical supervision of the Team Leader, Post Disaster TB Project (Kathmandu) and the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub-Office, IOM Gorkha, the successful candidate will support the IOM Post Disaster TB team, District Public Health Office (DPHO), and National TB Centre (NTC) in TB screening program of Internally Displaced Population (IDPs) in Gorkha district.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visit household to household in the IDP sites for TB screening. 
  • Identify presumptive TB cases by administrating the standard TB questionnaire. 
  • Provide presumptive TB cases with sputum container and assist the individual in collecting sputum sample for GeneXpert Test. Invite the presumptive TB cases in the Chest Camps.
  • Ensure that the quality and amount of sputum sample collected is of a good quality and quantity.
  • Collect sputum containers from the individuals and prepare for sending it to the GeneXpert lab.
  • Assist the team in the Chest Camp in crowd control and health education. 
  • Assist in disseminating the sputum test results to the patients and refer positive cases to nearest treatment centre for treatment enrolment.  
  • In coordination with DTLO and TB treatment centres identify patients on TB treatment, who are lost to follow up and staying in the IDP sites.
  • If needed, trace patients lost to follow up through phone calls, house visits and interviews of community members.
  • Keep the record of the daily activities by filling up the forms and format. 
  • Maintain highest confidentiality standards while performing the duties.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: 

  • A secondary education is required. Background in health education (CMA, ANM, and Lab Assistant) will be an advantage.  
  • Two years of relevant experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Computer literacy is desirable. 
  • Highly organized, responsible, result-oriented with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of principles or confidentiality; respect for diversity, ability to deal with people from various backgrounds.
  • Willingness and capacity to work under pressure; personal flexibility; willingness and ability to travel in the remote areas of the district.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team.
  • Local candidate from Gorkha district is preferable.
