Project Officer - MCH

Human Development and Community Service (HDCS) is nonprofit organization which works in three areas: Health, Education and Community Development in Nepal. In health sector it has been managing two hospitals: Lamjung District Community Hospital and Chaurjahari Hospital, Rukum and is also running Public Health Program. HDCS is seeking for a competent, committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic candidate for the Maternal and Child Health Promotion Project in the Rukum district:
Position: Project Officer-MCH (1)
Based in Chaurjahari, Rukum with frequent visits in project VDCs.
Position/Main Responsibilities: This role includes overall management of the project at the district level, supervision of field staff, and establishing and maintaining effective coordination with key stakeholders. He/ She will be based in Project district office and will report to the Public Health Program Coordinator in Kathmandu.
- Program design, planning, implementation and monitor in selected VDCs of project district.
- Ensure implementation and supervision of project activities are based on program design and they are being implemented in accordance with the project plan.
- Establish network and coordination with different local stake holders, local governments, media, partners and other organization to ensure effective implementation of project activities.
- Liaise and build effective working relationships with district partners including DP/HO, WCO, DDC, DEO and Local NGOs and CBOs.
- Work close collaboration with district and local government health officials to ensure mainstreaming of the MCHP approach in the government health system.
- Supervise and provide timely feedbacks to field level staffs.
- Draft regular case studies of project successes and lessons learned.
- Provide assistance and inputs to the program coordinator in planning /budgeting of project.
- Submit the periodic progress and financial reports to the Program Coordinator.
Required qualification and competencies:
- Bachelor in Public Health (BPH) with minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in maternal and child health project management at district level.
- Proven experience in coordination, liaison, networking, managing teams, finance reporting.
- Have the capability to help train and develop other staff.
- Excellent written and spoken skills in English and Nepali.
- Excellent relational skills.
- Active listening, communication and feedback.
- High competency in planning, prioritizing and organizing.
- Applicable computer skills, particularly in Word, Outlook, Excel, and database software.
- Willing to be a team player and cover other responsibilities as needed.
