Terre des hommes (Tdh) is a child focused Swiss International NGO that has been working in Nepal for thelast 30 years. We are seeking a qualified and dynamic Nepali national from civil engineering background to work as an Infrastructure Manager with our emergency /recovery projectteam in Nepal. Currently the project is running in Sindhupalchowk and Kavre districts. 

Duration of the contract: At least one year with possible extension 

Position: Infrastructure Manager

Place: Based in Kathmandu with regular visits and deployment to the field including overnight stays, if required also in a tent

Supervisor: Emergency Programmes Coordinator 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Infrastructure Manager designs, plans and supports NGO partner for the construction activities under emergency project. S/he develops the plans for repair of damaged health facilities, and supports the partner in constructing new health facilities following government designs and guidelines. Activities are executedby NGO partners, are monitored it on a regular basis to ensure the quality of construction. 

KEY TASKS:

  • Develop and implement an appropriate and effective construction strategy in consultation with other staff, partners and stakeholders
  • Develop designsand/or provide guidance to partners to implement appropriate constructions 
  • Support NGO partner to identify and purchase quality materials as per the Sphere standard and standard set by Tdh 
  • Oversee partner’s construction interventions in order to meet the project objectives within budget and within the allotted time frame
  • Attend related cluster meetings and meetings with stakeholders 
  • Continuously monitor and supervise construction activities, overseeing the technical design and execution and evaluating progress through outputs and outcomes using both quantitative and qualitative methods/tools 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture and at least five years working with proven experience in  construction and reconstruction/rehabilitation in post emergency situations.
  • Strong communication, analytical skills
  • Proven planning, monitoring and reporting skill 
  • Flexibility and well developed communication skills and Negotiation skills 
  • Ability to work with teams, is self-directed, adaptable to local culture and diplomatic. 

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • NPR 42,600 to NPR 76,500 as basic salary based on qualification and experience, plus Provident Fund, Dashain Bonus, Children and Communication allowances will be provided as per Tdh Nepal Staff Regulations.
