The Risk Management Office (RMO) is a joint undertaking by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and provides Risk Management support to DFID and GIZ, as well as their programmes and partners. Through a range of services, including trainings, provision of risk advice and updates, the RMO enables programmes to work safely and effectively. The RMO invites application from qualified & experienced Nepalese candidate for the following position.

Position: REGIONAL RISK MANAGEMENT OFFICER

Duty Station: Janakpur/Dhanusha

RESONSIBILITIES:

• Professional risk related information collection and management
• Timely and coherent analysis and reporting of Nepal's security and political context
• Issuing of risk advice to GIZ/DFID programmes and partners in the region and provision of crisis support
• Regular communication and liaising with GIZ/DFID programmes and partners and other important stakeholders in the region and districts
• Support and delivery of Risk Management Office trainings o Administration and management of the Regional Office
• Regular field Risk Assessments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related subject, such as Sociology, Political Science, Conflict Studies, Law
• Excellent understanding of Nepal's security and political context
• Excellent report writing skills
• Extensive field experience and willingness to travel to remote locations
• Ability to work independently, under pressure in challenging environments
• Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours
• Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali (both written and verbal)
• In addition to Nepali language, ability to work in either Maithili or Bhojpuri language is mandatory for this position
• Very good computer skills (MS Office applications, Outlook)
• Good working knowledge of security and risk management procedures and equipment
• Experience in training logistics and delivery
• Experience in Disaster Preparedness will be an advantage
• Preference will be given to candidates originating from the same or adjacent districts.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT:

• This position will be based in Janakpur, Dhanusha and will be responsible for covering the Central Tarai and Eastern Terai. The successful candidate should have significant experience working in the Central and /or Eastern Terai.

The salary and social benefits will correspond to the rule applicable to GIZ national personnel in Nepal. Especially women and candidates from underprivileged castes and ethnic groups are encouraged to apply.
