Chemonics International Inc., a Washington D.C.-based international development company, seeks a qualified Protection and Shelters Expert for an anticipated multi-year U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Counter Trafficking in Persons in Asia (CTIP-Asia) program in the lower Mekong sub-region. The project will combat human trafficking in the Southeast Asia Region through increasing efforts to prevent trafficking; protection of survivors; prosecution of perpetrators; and investment in strong partnerships with stakeholders across sectors to end human trafficking. This position will be based in Kathmandu.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of the national shelter system in the target countries to identify case management and shelter management protocols that need to be strengthened or developed.
  • Build the capacity of local and other partners to proactively identify victims of trafficking and refer them to the appropriate services.
  • Coordinate the development or strengthening of shelter and protection networks to strengthen the capacity of actors to work towards a common agenda
  • Provide technical oversight to grantee organizations who provide shelter or other protection services to victims of trafficking.
  • Develop and implement knowledge management and learning activities for effective country-to-country learning and knowledge dissemination within the program’s overall knowledge management strategy
  • Ensure timely delivery and quality of technical deliverables.
  • Ensure timely development of coordinated, standardized work plans that meet the project requirements

Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience working on counter-trafficking programs, with a focus on shelters, protection programs or similar initiatives.
  • Technical experience in social work, human rights, CSO management, referral mechanisms and/or early warning systems, policy analysis and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work diplomatically across government and civil society actors, and with partners who have differing objectives.
  • Experience working on USAID or other international donor-funded projects highly preferred
  • Experience conducting trainings and managing grants
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English and Nepali; excellent written and oral communication skills
