Terre des hommes foundation (Tdh) Lausanne is a child protection focused Swiss INGO that has been active in Nepal for 30 years. Tdh Nepal delegation is seeking qualified and dynamic Nepali residents for the following position. 

Position Title:  Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Coordinator

Reporting to:  Country Representative   

Work Station: Kathmandu with travel throughout Nepal as required 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General:

  • Develop and manage advanced monitoring and evaluation systems within Tdh and its implementing partners 
  • Build the capacity of Tdh staff and implementing partners in M&E systems and qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies and tools
  • Lead research beyond operational surveys related to thematic interests of Tdh, and collaborates with external researchers working for/with Tdh. 

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and Manage M&E system in Tdh and its projects 
  • Develop and update monitoring and evaluation guideline in line with the HQ M&E framework
  • Support development and ensure the quality of log-frames for project proposals.
  • Lead the development of Project Monitoring Frameworks (with M&E and programme team), and develop required format, tools and processes
  • Ensure comprehensive (Google spreadsheet based) monitoring databases with integrated analysis tools, which allow a quick monthly follow-up of project progress, and allows programme staff to access the data at any time. 
  • Introduce new technologies (e.g. mobile data collection)
  • Provide a monthly meaningful qualitative and quantitative report, which highlights limitations in project progress informing the project team  
  • Coordinate closely with programme team and provide constructive feedback to the team and partners. 
  • Provide data and analytical narrative sections for project reporting
  • Ensure regular field monitoring by M&E team (including coordinator) and its quality. Develop required checklists and tools. 
  • Conceptualize and supervise required project surveys (e.g. base/endline) 
  • Ensure Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS) in developing indicators. 
  • Monitoring and evaluate Tdh Country Strategy

Research:

  • Design and implement situation analysis/needs assessments for project development
  • Design, implement and coordinate small studies on topics relevant in Tdh’s programmatic and advocacy approach. 
  • Contribute and support external researchers in implementing research in Nepal 
  • Coordinate field work and provision of  necessary information to the research team
  • Share findings report with stakeholders and coordinate the review of the report
  • Regular Briefing of the team and Country Representative on progress in research. 
  • Capacity Building of Tdh Staff and Partners
  • Analyze strength and weaknesses in Tdh and partners and develop appropriate capacity building measures 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required at least Master’s degree in social science, statistics, development studies or related subject with minimum of five years’ experience in M&E related work in similar position or responsibilities and experience of research activities, strong statistical knowledge and understanding. Knowledge on qualitative and quantitative tools, strong data analysis, interpretation and reporting skill is required.  

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALITIES:

Strong knowledge and skills on project design, monitoring and evaluation, research, ability to work well in complex environment and maintain positive working relationships, analytical, developing partnership and collaboration, coordination with stakeholders and team, strong supervision and coaching experience, strong computer skills (excel, SPSS, etc.) and presentation skill in English and Nepali.  

SALARY AND BENEFITS: NPR 85,000.00 to 120,000.00 basic salary based on academic qualification, experience and competency plus provident fund, children education and communication allowances.
