JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Livelihood & DRR Officer - 1

Reports to: Program Coordinator

Staff Reporting: Community Facilitators

Duty Station: Kavre

About AWON and Project:

Action Works Nepal (AWON) has been working on a voluntarily and informal basis since 2001 and officially registered in 2010. It is a non-profit, non-governmental and independent organization, which is dedicated support poor, excluded and vulnerable women and men, girls and boys through programmes that are based on social equality, human rights and are result driven.

AWON is implementing Nepal Earthquake Recovery Project under technical and financial support of HelpAge International Nepal. The objective of the project is to "ensure that the older people and their survivors from the earthquake have access to earthquake recovery project interventions and that their interests and needs are represented and met by the Nepal earthquake response through social protection and inclusion, income security through livelihoods, improved health and disaster risk reduction (DRR), among others as project need to do"

JOB PURPOSE:

The Project Officer (PO) will be responsible for the implementation and coordination for all livelihoods and DRR activities of Nepal Earthquake Recovery Project in working VDCs of Kavre district.

Key Responsibilities of Project Officer

Program Implementation and coordination
Prepares Detail Implementation plan
Orients community volunteers and OPAs on the theme and activities of the project.
Forecast budget on monthly basis with reference to action plan, DIP and organize the event accordingly.
Provides necessary support and guidance to VDC community facilitators in the process of program implementation.
Engages in district and VDC/Community level in relevant dialogue and advocacy forums.
Coordinates with project coordinator to implement overall Livelihoods and DRR activities.
Coordinates and build up linkages with relevant stakeholders to implement the program activities effectively.
Ensures all project activities are implemented in accordance with organizational policies, guidelines in timely manner.

Livelihood

Explores and support OPs for establishing marketing linkages on the basis of commodity both on farm and off farm.
Based on the need assessment, designs and implements income generation training for older persons (OPs).
Facilitate OPA in identifying poor and vulnerable OPs.
Identify institutes, resource persons, trainers and employ them accordingly with reference to the program activities.
Facilitates in capacity building of OPs for the effective mobilization of revolving fund

Disaster Risk Reduction

Facilitates on formation process of Older people inclusive CDMC/LDMC and contribution on preparing DRM Plan according to LDRMP guideline endorsed by MOFALD.
Maintains active and effective coordination and communicate with CDMC, DC, Municipality/VDC and local stakeholders.
Facilitates the process of preparing DPR plan to stakeholder of District Disaster Relief Committee.
Assists in preparing the program guidelines, policies, reading materials and training materials.
Leads to conduct VCA and generate reports of VCA to incorporate findings in LDRMP

KEY PROFICIENCIES

Knowledge and experience on livelihood and DRR interventions
Experience on working with community level organizations
Knowledge on value chain analysis and micro irrigation technology
Fluency in Nepali and English both oral and written
Skills with MS office package and internet.
