We were among the first INGOs on the ground and operational following the earthquake, providing medical treatment and essential supplies. Our technical staff on the ground now includes physicians, nurses, surgeons, as well as specialists in water, sanitation and hygiene, mental health and psycho-social support and nutrition.

Job Summary:

The position will assist Health Program Manager in the implementation of health programs of Internatioanl Medical Corps, and play a key role in positioning International Medical Corps intervention as evidence based. The position will be based in Kathmandu with upto 20% of the time spent on working districts.

This will be a six month contract by which the expected deliveries will be accomplished. If new responsibilities emerge, the position duration could be extended based on the need of program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compilation, and preliminary analysis of the program and field data received from service unit as well as implementing partner organization/s.
  • Support in the development of standard operating protocols/guidelines for physiotherapy services.
  • Provide technical backstopping and support partner organization/s to execute the projects under health program.
  • Ensure that minimum requirement for health post set up (medicine stock, equipment, furniture and supplies) are met and train staffs on its proper storage and judicial use.
  • Develop & support in implementation of evidence based data management practices.
  • Ensure health  program interventions/activities of International Medical Corps are ethically sound & get necessary approval/coordinate with Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC).
  • Ensure accuracy, usefulness and timeliness of the information reported. In liasion with M&E department, develop and revise data compilation and tracking format, as required by the program.
  • Update Project Management Template & draft narrative reports on monthly basis.
  • Assist Health Program Manager for conducting rapid assessment of health needs and priorites at the community and health facility level.

Minimum Education and Qualification:

  • University degree in public health/epidemiology/ research/health system strengthening and/or relevant subjects.
  • Experience on research and publications, health needs assessment as well as data management.
  • Good knowledge and/or first hand experience on government health system, services and policies.
  • Excellent writing skill (should be demonstrated by publications, reports etc.).
  • Background on medical related degree like Nursing, Pharmacy, General Medicine etc.will be an advantage.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to rural communities of earthquake affected districts.
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment with limited supervision.
  • Willingness to bring innovation, tackle challenges and produce deliverables within assigned timeline.
