Oxford Policy Management (OPM) is one of the world’s leading international policy development and management organisation. We enable strategic decision-makers in the public and private sector to identify and implement sustainable solutions for reducing social and economic disadvantage in low- and middle-income countries. OPM Nepal is a part of our global strengths currently providing in-country technical assistance to the government of Nepal in health, social protection, economic policies, climate change and community development.

We are seeking to recruit Finance and Office Assistant for one of OPM’s project named ‘The Karnali Employment Programme Technical Assistance (KEPTA)’ based in Kathmandu for initially until August 2015 with possibility of extension. KEPTA, the technical assistance component funded by DFID, assists Government of Nepal in developing and testing new approaches for employment-led poverty reduction. 

Position Purpose: Support Finance & Office Manager in effectively and efficiently handling activities related to office administration, logistics and finance. 

Major Responsibilities

  • Procure office supplies in line with procurement standards and rules and liaise with service providers and act as a point of communication contact with district as needed.
  • Organise logistics for workshop, seminars, conference, and study tours. Arrange tickets, hotels and other logistic support to Project staff and consultants
  • Manage office documentation(programme files and relevant documents, including the filling of documents, physically and electronically). 
  • Review bills and expenditure for accuracy and submit summary expenditure. Check and process invoice, bills and documentation for payments 
  • Maintain petty cash, advance account and reconcile with staff periodically. Record tax deductions and arrange payment to Inland Revenue Department. 
  • Prepare and maintain fix asset register and conduct physical verification on a regular basis where applicable. 
  • Any other duties as demanded by position purpose and as assigned by Finance and Office Manager

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor level qualification in management or any bachelor degree with administrative, finance and logistics experience
  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including generally accepted accounting principles. 
  • Ability to cope with several jobs simultaneously and to agreed deadlines. 
  • Attention to details
  • IT Skills (Word, excel and email/internet)
  • Excellent English, both spoken and written
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills
  • Ability to work co-operatively and confidently in a team. 
  • Valid Driving License
