BACKGROUND

Consortium of Organizations Working for Child Participation(Consortium-Nepal) is a national network of organizations working with a goal to realize and ensure children' right to participation at all levels-from family to state. This network was established in1999 to advocate for the institutionalization of child participation through mainstreaming of child participation in the policy, process and practice of the formal and informal institutions including Government, I/NGOs and family. It  gives special  focus on coordinated and integrated efforts of the stakeholders including children for establishing the right to participate asa norm by strengthening child rights programming and child led institution in Nepal. It has fifty four member organizations in the network throughout the federal state of the country.

Consortium-Nepal seeks competent, committed and result oriented candidate for the following position:

Position: Executive Director

Number of person required: 1 (One)

Duty station: Kathmandu and occasional field visit  

Type: Full Time

Starting Date: July 2017

Summary of the job

The Executive Director applies professional principles, practice and techniques to lead the staff members, serve as the mediator between the executives and staff working in the organization and liaison with member organizations. S/he is responsible for the overall planning, management, and financial control of the programs/projects aligning to the specified policies and goals of the network through proper coordination with the executives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Development of program and plan of action proactively in line with the overall goals, objectives and strategic direction of the organization.
  • Effective supervision and monitoring of the programs in relation to the monitoring plan and personal and sectional plans in periodic basis i.e. monthly, quarterly and annually and provide necessary feedback to the staff.
  • Fundraising, proposal writing and dealing with different donors for funding and non-funding support. 
  • Take initiatives in all the aspect of the functioning of the Consortium-Nepal and strengthening the capacity of its secretariat of program management and delivery,
  • Devise plan for capacity development of human resources of the secretariat and implement the plan,
  • Maintain  communication,  functional  coordination  and  collaboration  with  member organizations towards the objectives of the Consortium-Nepal and engage them proactively.
  • Manage and deliver residential training courses (Thematic training related to child rights, child  participation  and   facilitation  skills) forthe  capacity   building  of  the member organizations,
  • Coordinate the process of development of training material for the purpose of the training of Consortium-Nepal as well as for the use of external training providers,
  • Document the process of the training as a process of enhancing the content of training modules.
  • Prepare the monitoring/reporting of the training process and overall reporting of the activities to the concerned donors.
  • Develop linkages and coordination with national and international organizations for profiling of the work of the Consortium-Nepal as well as to make the organization more recognized,
  • Periodically share information about the work of Consortium-Nepal to the relevant agencies both inside and outside the country as well as receive information and documents that are relevant to the work and purpose of the Consortium-Nepal.
  • Represent Consortium-Nepal in different programs and communicate the voice of Consortium-Nepal
  • Ensure financial management is in right direction.
  • Develop and revise Financial Policy, Human Resource Policy and Administrative procedures and ensure they are implemented properly in the organization.
  • Ensure physical environment of the organization is in good condition and capable staffs are in place to achieve the organizational goals.
  • Regularly hold the review meeting of program staff and board members and re-plan the activities if needed.
  • Manage the process of strategic planning, project planning and budgeting, to ensure that plans are well coordinated and completed in a timely manner.

Key competencies required

  • The candidate must have Masters Degree in Management/Sociology/Social Work/ Development Studies or relevant area. In addition to having five years' working experiences within management the person should:
  • Have at least 5 years of experience handling senior position
  • Have professional writing and communication skills including management skills
  • Have proper knowledge on project planning cycle and management
  • Have creative and critical thinking to solve the problems
  • Have strong public relation skill
  • Have strong leadership skill and ability to motivate people
  • Be able to communicate in English and Nepali Language fluently in both written and oral.
  • Be flexible, analytical, and open to new ideas
  • Be able to carry out multi tasks.
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet the deadline
  • Salary will be NPR. 60,000 plus benefits will be provided according to Consortium-Nepal financial policy.
